Hi starting chemo for breast cancer in ten days time. I m beginning to get very nervous. Sometimes I wonder if I'm doing the right thing.
Me too. I’m also feeling nervous but on the other hand want to get started with everything going on at the moment. My surgery was 27th March and the chemo was delayed because of the virus. The location has also changed. Just want to get on with it now. Best of luck, we can get through this together xx
Hi
It's very natural to be nervous of staring chemo and thinking am I doing the right thing. I have had the same thoughts as I am due to start chemo in a few weeks. As the date approaches I am scared but in this forum you will get lots of help, advice and support from ladies that have gone through chemo. Go to the following link May BC Chemo Club 2020. There are at least 2 ladies that have started chemo this week and more ladies starting later this month. Post all your questions and if you need emotional support just ask.
Happy to chat anytime
Take care

Hi, it’s the most natural thing ever to be scared of chemo, I know I definitely was! It was more the fear of the unknown for me. I did have someone who came with me as a precaution but I really could have driven myself throughout.
I wasn’t on a ward but had my own room, the nurse was really lovely (I’m still in touch now and I finished in October last year) and the whole thing was made as easy as possible. I was cannulated each time and only once did they struggle to find a vein, I know some opt for a line for various reasons but I didn’t want the hassle of anything permanent!
i had 3 ec then 3 docetaxel, what you need to remember is that everyone is different and reacts differently too, for me the ec was fine, I worked thru (just took the day off after) and carried on as normal, going out, lots of mini breaks, looking after elderly parents and grandson. The docetaxel was harder, especially the first one, I struggled to work and had to stop running. However I didn’t have to go in for anything, I think I rang a couple of times to check I could take over the counter meds. Mentally however I did struggle a lot throughout and still am to an extent.
my oncologist and consultant both said I was unusual in that I finished all the treatment, with no reductions and more unusual that I had no problems . I was 55 and more or less fit and healthy.
Definitely join the monthly chemo threads, especially with the current situation, it’s so worth it.
If I can do this then absolutely anyone can, Amy problems don’t suffer in silence, shout out either here or call your team or breast care nurse if you have one.
Hi badtiming. Yeah I think that's what makes it worse. Its all the waiting. Just want to get on with it instead of worrying. Best of luck to you too.
