Hi everyone,

I had my MRI & CT scan today. MRI was uncomfortable, but not as bad as I had imagined. CT was very easy. So now the dreaded wait.

Got a gut feeling it has spread to my rib, as, I've had an awful pain just where my Tumour is. Breast Surgeon said he didn't think it had spread, but Im now not sure. Did anyone else have CT before treatment? I had 1 node positive when I had my initial biopsy.

I have my oncology appt on Wednesday so just hoping that the results will be available. The waiting for results is truly the worst part.

Finger's crossed im still early stages.

Hope everyone is well and coping with their various treatments xx

    Hi

I was diagnosed with grade 2 invasive ductal cancer after my mastcetomy. This was a shock as I was initially diagnosed with DCIS. I had 6 nodes removed and 2 showed that there was cancer cells present. However my  ct scan and bone scan were both clear. Awaiting the results was very stressful, more so than having a mastectomy!!! Stay strong . Take one day at a time. Hope you get good results.

    Thanks for the reply Linda.

When did you have your CT?

I had all mine today, but was only diagnosed 1 week ago. I had my node biopsied at my initial referral appt, after my GP said it was a cyst. I have quite a large tumour at 35mm, and very large breast, which has meant it has taken it longer for me to detect.

Had my mascetomy 12/3/20 and tumour was 30mm and 6 nodes removed. 2 weeks later saw surgeon for pathology results. He confirmed I had invasive ductal cancer not DCIS . I have dense breast tissue and tumour was not found until after surgery.  2 out of the 6 nodes affected. He arranged ct scan and bone scan at end of March. I had to wait for results from my telephone consultation with my Oncologist on 22 April, so nearly 3 weeks. I know most results are available in 1-2 weeks so when you see your doctor he may well have them.  Now due to start chemo end of May.

Good luck, let me know how it goes

    Linda xx

  • the ultrasound I had at diagnosis showed the lymph nodes were clear so I didn’t have a scan as it wasn’t necessary.

Unfortunately 3 or the 4 removed during surgery had cancer, macro and micro mets, I still haven’t had a scan at all, mri or dexa, I was told they’d got everything during surgery so a further one wasn’t needed. I just had the planning ct one for radiotherapy.

I’d really love a scan so I know the chemo and rads did their job and the hormone therapy is working too!

    good luck with yours xxx

  • Hi,

Do you mind me asking why you had an MRI?  I'm asking because I also have pain in my mastectomy area, my Surgery was July 2018 and I had very little pain following Surgery, the pain is quite recent and I'm worried it's in my bones behind the mastectomy site.  My Surgeon said he doesn't think it is and that its Post Mastectomy Pain Syndrome so has prescribed Lidocaine patches, they help while they are on but when off the pain is back.

Best Wishes and good luck for your results.

    Hi Peterawake,

I had an MRI to get a better look at the tumour, im having chemo so will have another MRI half way through, then at the end of chemo to determine if it is reducing the size of the cancer.

  • Hello

I had an MRI of the breast and an abdominal ct scan within a week of diagnosis. I had lymph node involvement on the ultrasound so I think they always do a ct scan to see if its spread. Fortunately mine hadnt. I've just finished chemo and have had a complete response as the recent breast MRI showed no tumour and lymph nodes normal. I still need surgery but it's all positive.they always check the tumour out to know what it's doing.

    Love julie xx

    Afternoon,

Had my oncology appointment today, Doctor was lovely, very informative and friendly. Likes a laugh which is what I respond best to.

Thankfully CT has shown no spread past lymph nodes, which I will admit, I cried when he told me. So starting chemo in the next week or 2. FEC-T for  6 cycles.

Hope all you ladies are doing well xx

  • Hi Great news about your CT results, I'm very happy for you. I do remember also bursting into tears and crying uncontrollably at similar news. You can now move forward with the first part of your plan. I also had EC-T for 6 cycles so let us know if you need any tips. Best of luck with it. xx
