Hi I am also Her2 and oestrogen positive. The chemo I found easy, just tired a few days after infusion.Keep hydrated, even at night.I didn't drink alcohol or tea and coffee.I eat a mainly veggie diet with some fish and white meat.No processed foods except condiments.I exercised every day, even on tired rest days in bed.I used ice pack on hands and feet when on Taxol drug to protect from peripheral neuropathy.

         Had surgery,lumpectomy,two weeks ago.Tumour shrunk,nodes and margins clear.Little discomfort.

Herceptin was an infusion, now an injection to reduce time in therapy room, had first one today,no pain, just sharp prick.

  • Hello irishanna

I'm her2 positive,  my tumour was 20mm with positive lymph node. I've had 5 chemos. 3 fec and 2 t including herceptin and perjeta. I'm due my 6th and hopefully final one next week. I've been ok, just tired. Sleep when you are tired. I drank alot of water and eat as healthy as possible. Ask your oncologist for difflam mouthwash to stop your mouth getting sore. Keep skin hydrated,  I use aveno products. Private message me if you want. My tum5has shrank alot, I will find out breast MRI results next week.

    Hi

My wife was HER2+ positive - They tend to chuck everything including the kitchen sink at HER2+ which makes the treatment period look long drawn out and daunting :-/

However the sessions soon seem to get ticked off and the time goes very quickly probably because you are in a treatment fog timewarp. This was way back in 2012 , 8 years ago now and J is fine, so take reassurance the treatment works and is do'able. You get the odd duvet day but don't take your eye off the prize at the end of the treatment tunnel Medal

Assume you have already checked out the breast groups April Chemo Chat discussion ?

Any questions just holler, we'll all help support you through this

    Hugs, G n' J

Good morning I was diagnosed in June with HER2 breast cancer. I had 6 rounds of chemo, the last one I felt very tired.
3 weeks after my final chemo I had a mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. All went really well, radiotherapy for 3 weeks in January. I can tell you I was so happy when I rang that bell. I’m still  on 3 weekly herceptin injections. Listen to your body and don’t be hard on yourself. Heartpulse I’m more than happy to answer any questions xx

Hi....I was diagnosed HER2+ and ER+ at the end of Jan and had my 2nd of 8 cycles of chemo this week (4 x EC) then (4 x T plus Herceptin and Perjeta). So far so good, a few days of feeling nauseous and tired afterwards. I get very thirsty so as others have said take in plenty fluids. I also get sore heads a lot more now. Not sure what surgery I will have as I still have to meet my new breast surgeon but was originally looking at lumpectomy as I wanted to save my breast however now I want whatever surgery minimises the risk of recurrence - will wait on advice from surgeon on this. Following surgery I will have another 14 cycles of Herceptin and Perjeta.

    Hi Teenybash,

I had same diagnosis as you, just had lumpectomy, with clear margins and no lymph nodes affected.

What fluids are you drinking? I had plain water most of the time,no tea or coffee and if I had fruit juice used it like a cordial well diluted.

Have you tried ginger for your nausea? I used Whitworths Firey Ginger, fresh ginger and honey in a hot drink, ginger biscuits.I preloaded with it for about two days before chemo and a few days after,no problems with nausea,I had been tipped of by a friend to use it prior to chemo.
