Hi folks, I just wanted to check if anyone else has this issue after chemo session. My nose feels incredibly sensitive as if I've damaged it, not painful but weird, sensitive sensation when breathing in (right side more than left). I did cry quite a bit yesterday and blew my nose ( I did do it gently) but saw dried in blood in nostrils this morning and now just this sensitivity. I remember having it after the last session of docetaxel but no blood and I remember it being wet but not as bad, I have had dry throat and windpipe along with it. Just wondering if anyone else is or has experienced this type of side effect?

Hi, my nostrils became very fragile during chemo...nose streamed constantly, very watery...and still does 5 months on...and I had several bleeding points. I thought the runny nose would stop once my nostril hair grew back but it hasn't.

Hi, you got the word I couldn't get, fragile, that's exactly how they feel. One more thing we will have to endure but glad to hear the hair has grown back for you. So are you finished with chemo now then?

    Hi,

I had 4 sessions of docetaxel herceptin and pertuzumab from Oct 2029-Jan 2020. My nose sore with dried blood and then was dripping. Found putting Vaseline inside nostrils helped with discomfort. 3 months on from last chemo an d a lot better.

    Hi Trisha,

Had last chemo Jan 3 2020 about 2 weeks after that felt ok still tiried but not to bad. Think nose dripping and filling up with scabs lasted couple of months. Not touching my nose and putting Vaseline helped. I’ve had 2 surgery since then and getting a masectomy Monday 20th April then for review by oncologist original plan was for 6 chemo 4 before surgery and 2 after. Chemotherapy was more exhausting than surgery. But after each chemo seemed to be better so by 4th chemo wasn’t too bad. My kids are 10 and 7 and don’t know I have breast cancer they know I had a lump under my arm that was removed didn’t mention my breast as my daughter who’s 10 might guess. They’re both happy kids are self absorbed as long as I seem ok and doing stuff for them they don’t worry . Hope you doing ok. Find this group helpful for support and information

    Take care

    Hi Gail,

Best of luck for 20th :) You are an absolute trooper, keeping up with the kids and having chemo :) xx my boys are 5 and 10, it was hard telling my 10 year old but they have all been so great but I actually like that they just plough on as normal. In the 2 days of joining this group it has helped me so much especially mentally. Thanks Gail and I hope surgery goes well, will be thinking of you xx

    Hi Trisha

Thanks , thinking of you and all those having chemo at this time with kids who have in the house all day. I had the luxury of them going to school when I had my chemo. Although it’s swings and roundabouts as with me having surgery and feeling tiried don’t have to worry about taking them to school dancing lessons swimming etc and they don’t ask as they know everyone in the same position.
