Am I  at a high risk of this virus with having lymph node clearance  as wondering if having a lymph node clearance effects your immune system

Hi, I am in a similar position lymph node clearance wise. From what I understand the axillary lymph nodes filter possible infections relating to damage/injury in that arm and breast area. You have many more lymph glands in your body and the spleen too help keep you safe. If your worried you could email your breast care nurse. Take care.

The lymph node removal only affects that arm not your whole immune system. I have my lasT  bisphosphonate (zometa) infusion at the end of this month, having completed 3 years of 6 monthly infusions. It makes the bones more dense and reduces the risk of bone secondaries. I get some bone aching for a few days after treatment then fine, I don’t think it affects immune system. Hope all goes well x
