Any advice on using the cold cap? I’m having EC Chemo and wondered if anyone has used it?
Hi,
I used the cold cap with fec-t chemo. I did lose quite a bit of hair but kept the majority - put it this way I would use it again, although I hope that I never need to! The first few sessions were uncomfortable rather than painful. Make sure you have conditioner on your hair when they fit the cold cap, they will usually have this ready. The cap must be tight fitting - if there are any areas where it is not fitted tight, then you will lose hair. Take layers, cardigans etc because it does make you feel bloody cold! Also maybe take a beanie or a hat to wear when you leave - because when they take the cold cap off, you have icicles on your hair. I did not take any painkillers to begin with. However I did find that as my hair thinned (2/3 treatments in), it did become more painful. Ibuprofen and paracetamol helped. Good luck!
