Brain Mets Headaches

Hi everyone. I am currently 38yrs old.

I had DCIS in 2013 and a double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction.

In 2016, I had stage 3, grade 3 invasive breast cancer which was in my lymph nodes. I had chemo and radio. I currently take daily exemestane, receive a monthly implant of Zoladex and a 6 monthly bone infusion of Zometa. I also had my silicone reconstruction removed as they were damaged with the radiotherapy.

Since Christmas 2019, I have woken every single morning with a frontal headache. It feels similar to sinus headache but I do not have any other sinus complaints. As soon as I get upright, the headache eases and within 5 minutes its gone. This is every day.

The GP communicated with my oncologist and I have a head CT tomorrow. I am worried.

Can anybody who is unfortunate enough to have brain mets, see any likeness to my morning headaches?

Thank you,

Ally.

    Hi,

Is your neck ok? It doesn't feel painful? Years ago I was hospitalised for severe headaches, I could barely function, after some considerable time they decided to scan my upper spine and neck area and said the headaches were due to arthritic changes which was causing pressure on the nerves ie they were being squeezed.  Some of the nerves to the head are in the neck area and if under pressure as mine were it can cause severe headaches. I have to be very careful about my neck position when sitting reading or using the computer, or position on pillows in bed, if my head is bent down for too long or not in a good sleeping position it starts off the neck pain and severe headaches. Mine can improve once I'm up and moving around, I use Ibuprofen Gel on my neck.

As yours improve when you get up, its worth a thought that it may be something else and I sincerely hope it isn't related to your previous cancer.

    Please keep us posted.

Oh goodness me, this must make you continually anxious about your positioning.  I do not have any neck pain at all. But thank you for your input.x

    Hi BearCat.

The head CT went as planned, thank you. Just the dreaded way for a result now. Wondering which day or week I'll hear, will it be phone, letter, appointment..  The mind goes bonkers doesn't it.

I suppose with everything that is going on they might not want to commit to timeframes. That doesn’t make it easy for you though. Hope you are doing ok? Xx

    Hi everyone,

My Head CT was normal!! Wayhay! Pity I still have excruciating headaches that now last all day, but delighted and relieved no brain mets was there!

    Thanks for the support.

    Ally x
