Well it's been 3 weeks since I had my op. Feel ok although now have a rock hard boob! Seeing my consultant today to discuss the next part of my journey so hopefully he'll be able to dispel my worries about it. I'm chuffed with myself really as not had to take any painkillers and the brushing and swelling went really quick! But now I have this hard boobie which doesn't hurt but I struggle to squeeze it in my bra! Fingers crossed I can get rid of this and start my next part of my treatment.
Hi so glad your op went well! Can I ask what op you had? I’m hopefully having a mastectomy and DIEP flap reconstruction with reduction on the other side next week. Have a cold so advice being sought has to whether the op can go ahead!
Hope all goes well with your consultant appointment today! x
Hi. I had a wide local excision and lymph node removal. I'm seeing consultant to decide if I need a mastectomy or just plough on with chemo etc? Why is it when we have ops booked we end up with a cold or something. We can go all year without them boom, we get everything going! I had a cold before my op but luckily it went within 3 days!
You are right, I’ve gone through chemo already and although I was sick etc during it I managed to avoid a cold!! Now here we are! I’ve had it a week so hopefully not too much longer.
Best of luck with the consultant! x
Well I Saw my consultant. And it's good news. They got all the cancer. None in my lymph nodes. Yippee. I did a little dance. Now I have to meet with oncologist and go through what happens with chemo etc. So now it's 7 months are slog to make sure it doesn't come back! I'm now up for it and feel mentally strong! Ill be having fec chemo for 3 sessions. Then fec d for 3 sessions, then radiotherapy for 4 weeks then hormone therapy for 10 yrs! Exhausted just talking about it. Oh and I've also got an appt for a wig fitting too! Yay!
Well done that's great news! I'm 5 weeks post mastectomy & ANC....isn't it just the best day when the surgeon tells you they got it all. My follow up appointment with him was very short and for a while when I came out, I had to convince myself that was really what I heard. But then I thought well I would have been in longer if there was more to talk about!! Then my oncologist & radiotherapy consultant both said the next time I saw them, "I see you've had excellent results". I start radiotherapy next week and I am also on hormone treatment and will have Herceptin/perjeta until October. So I'm still on the journey but it does feel different now I haven't got cancer and this is just to help it not return in future. I feel fab and am getting on with life. It does feel odd some days if I think for a moment....has it really gone? But I don't let that thought hang around.
All the best for your chemo....I had mine before surgery. It's not as bad as you imagine it will be and you'll be surprised how quick those 7 months pass. x
