Is anyone else having this problem? I was lucky enough to have Femara prescribed by my NHS doctors surgery, after a long battle explaining that my side effects were far worse with other brands - except for Sandos which was then discontinued...
My chemist is now telling me that, due to Brexit, he cant get supplies of Femara - and I will most likely be given a different brand from now on.
Is anyone else finding the same shortage?
Hi Zelie,
I have a private prescription for Femara written out today by my Surgeon, I sincerely hope there isn't a shortage, certainly wasn't when I collected it the last time.
Can I just ask how much better the Femara is for both of you? I have tried Cipla (dreadful), Accord ok at first, but after 2 months was like my 99 year old uncle, with head pain, dizziness and eye pain. I stopped last Wednesday when I had a ruptured blood vessel in my retina south a possible small tear.
I'm seeing my oncologist next week and wonder if it's worth asking for a month of two of Femara to try. I bought Sandoz in Spain, but although it was better for my joints it made me dizzy.
Femara is better - still have a lot of aches and pains - but less than it was with other makes. The thing is that without oestrogen, you feel ancient....1 am 68 and when I look in the mirror I see a stooped woman with thin hair ( used to be springy and curly) - so after 4 years of letrozole, I look older...BUT I am still here, and that has to be a bonus...hoping my chemist can still supply Femara, I will be pushing him to find it if no-one else is finding it hard to get...
Hi
I am still very stiff on Femara, I have quite severe arthritis in my hands but they are worse since I started the Aromatase Inhibitors, I was initially put Letrozole, but every other month it was a different brand and some made me feel awful, mostly mood was very low on some and hot tempered plus awful joint pain including my knees. The Femara doesn't seem to lower my mood but I am still hot tempered and irritable and stiff. I wouldn't go back to Letrozole now because they issued different ones so frequently, that was an anxiety in itself.
I had an appointment with my Surgeon today and he said AI's lower the risk of BC in the other breast by about 50%.
