Anyone had light beam therapy for breast cancer?
Hi gina62
Do you mean Proton Beam Therapy ? Sounds like someone has seen Dr Google
This is very a specialised (and very expensive) treatment. There are only 2 centres in the UK that perform this therapy and it is for specific tumours that need pinpoint accuracy for tumours that has no affect other tissue. Like those attached to arteries, brain etc.
It wouldn't be used for breast cancer unless there is a very special need for it as surgery removes the tumour.
The usual radiotherapy for breast cancer is External Beam Radiotherapy (info link)

Hi Gina / gina62
Yes, I'm afraid we were all guilty of that at the start.
Then you figure out Dr Google can be outdated and worryingly misleading lol
Better sticking with BreastCancerNow, Cancer Research UK, Macmillan BC and the NHS sites.
