    Hello sueque1

I am so sorry to hear about the bad side effects of the Herceptin.  I had to say I was dreading it.

I have been ever so lucky though, I asked my oncologist for an HER2 retest because I was borderline with the ICH and then marginal with the FISH test and it came back negative.  Because I was then ER positive and HER2 negative I was able to go for the Oncotype DX test which also confirmed I was HER2 negative and also that my cancer recurrence was low so now I don't need Herceptin and I don't need chemo either.

I am however facing a second surgery because they discovered occult DCIS which didn't show up on the mammogram and so now I am going for further surgery with hopefully partial breast reconstruction.  No doubt this will be followed by radiotherapy

I hope it improves for you

    Hello Margaret

I was initially diagnosed ER positive and then HER2 Positive.  They told me that if I was HER2 positive I would need Herceptin and Chemo.  I was told Herceptin would not work without chemo?  Why were you prescribed Herceptin without chemo?

    Best wishes

I must be very lucky, I haven’t had any so far. I’ve just had 10/18 injections to date.

  • Hi

Sorry wasn't clear enough ..I meant SE were easier than the ones I had on chemo . My story on my profile .

Story started last June with mammogram then diagnosis

followed 8 days later by  MX then chemo now Herceptin and Bisphosphonate.

its correct that in this country N.I.C.E. states you don't get Herceptin without chemo .

Sorry bout mix up  keep well

    take care
