Maybe TMI but does anyone else find that Docetaxel/carboplatin chemo make you feel (or actually are) malodorous??

hi

ivejust had the 5th Docetaxel/carboplatin dose and aside from all the other truly awful side effects I feel as if I am smelling unpleasantly at certain stages of the cycle

i am a veterinary surgeon and my daughter a veterinary nurse and we have also noticed that all our dogs and cats sneeze at the same stage of each cycle  for a few days

i feel (sorry if TMI) that products leaving my body despite being well hydrated most of the time have a distinct and different odour even down to the smallest amount of gas

anyone else notice or feel this way or am I just being over sensitive?.

also anyone else really sensitive to noises especially sudden ones?

    Hi

I don't think it's just your combination of chemo that creates the problems you describe! I've hsd several different chemos, and quite a few of them have had the 'dead rat in the sewer' effect! Truly horrible and just an extra embarrassment to go with all the other side effects!

I reckon it's due to the fact that the chemo strips the fast growing cells from the gut and alter the flora and fauna make-up that we normally have, in the same way as they can cause constipation and/or diarrhoea.

Carboplatin and the othe platinum drugs are well knoen for the potential of hearing issues - hearing loss and increased tinnitis. My oncol ruled out me having carboplatin as I have tinnitus already. It might be that hyperacusis is another hearing related side effect - I would definitely run it past your team.

Good luck with the rest of your treatment!

    Big hugs to you
