Hello fellow patients. I'm just about to start FEC-T chemo and was looking to get an idea of people's experiences - how soon the side effects kicked in, how long you were able to carry on working, what side effects you had and how bad they were etc etc.
I'm sure the experiences will be very different but as long as I end up with a best and worst case scenario at least I'll have an idea.
Very best wishes to you all.
Hi
Sorry to see you have to have another dance with the devil after tonsil cancer :-/
There is a regular monthly chemo discussion here for those who are having, or have already completed chemo.
You can find the January Chemo Club clicking here. There is a chemo tips link in the very first message - it is a rolling discussion so if you copy your above text in you will soon get some replies as most have FEC-T as did my better half.
For most the biggest issue with the FEC part is feeling nauseous. They give you meds to help allay this but some find they need to ask for something better than the bog standard anti-emetics.
You may be able to work some; even most days during chemo but this depends on the type of work you do and how you are coping with any of the side effects. Those doing manual or shift work and the possible infection risk to those working with the general pubic or children find it the hardest :-/
Hope this is of some help for now, G n' J
