Hello everyone I'm new to this site I wonder if anyone could give me some advice my friend was diagnosed with breast cancer and she is receiving chemotherapy and unfortunately she is constipated and has tried laxatives but it's now 3 days later and still no joy I wondered if anyone has any tips or tricks I could help her out many thanks Chad
Really hard to advise because everyone different, too much fibre makes me bunged up as well. Sometimes it's what you dont eat that helps ie cheese is really bad for causing constipation and things like red meat as well. So hard when there is only a few things you fancy eating. I took 1 dulcolax at bedtime which didn't help then 2 the next night ...explosive! Fruit juice and lots of fluids helps. Hope you all get sorted xx
Tried prunes but not prune juice so will give that a go. I'm drinking 3 -4 LTRs a day, trying to eat lots of fruit, veg, nuts and seeds taking a whole variety of laxatives suggested by my unit. And tried lots of the lovely suggestions on here but nothing for 4 or 5 days each time!! So uncomfortable on top of everything else isn't it. Thanks for all the advice.
I had these 4/5 days of constipation, too, during chemotherapy, whilst I ate normally. I thought I probably didn't drink enough. But then I felt that the drugs just cause it, and nothing really helped. Even laxatives. Just time.
But if one eats a lot of fibre food, drinking a lot is necessary.
