Welcome to the Christmas Chemo Club - May your Xmas meal taste better than Tin and Cardboard.
Lets hope it's more Ho Ho Ho! rather than Oh Oh Oh!
This thread is for all of you good folks going through chemotherapy to browse through, ask questions, answer questions and be there for each other in a way only you guys know how.
If you want to find this post quickly, you can hit the 'Save In My Favourites' button - See discussion tools box
If you need any extra tips, our Chemo Tips Page is something you may find very helpful, and something that you may find you would like to share with others who are also going through chemo. One top tip, ask about parking at the hospital you are being treated at; for some Cancer patients parking is either free or discounted (big discount!) So it's worth asking about.
If you need to refer back a month here is a link to Novembers Thread which will be being locked to replies soon.
Remember, you're never alone, you have us! And, just try to focus on what your chemotherapy is doing. Its hopefully kicking your cancers butt. I hope all of you are doing as well as you can do while going through this tough part of your journeys.
Don't forget all cancer patients are entitled to a 5 Year Prescription Fee Exemption Card from your GP for meds to help with any side effects. Happy December Everyone, fingers crossed for maximum impact and minimal side effects.
All aboard for the Mystery Tour - Hold Tight; ding! ding!
Hi Giuliella,
Hope all went well today. Sounds to me you were well wrapped up and ready to have faced the cold. I do hope you managed to sort the medication out and arranged for nurse to come and do filgrastim injections, i had nurse come out today and did my picc line flush. It saves me travelling to the hospital all the time and with such achy legs and all other side effects it helps a great deal. Thinking of you.

Yep, it went well today, got the bus down, caught the free shuttle up to Oncology in time to spend a quarter hour with hubby, got him to sign a cheque for me, then had my appointment at 10.30am. Came out at 1.00pm and then had to wait ages on phone to get a taxi to take me home, couldn't face waiting an hour for the bus, as I'd just missed one. Got home, it's another cold day, so got cold whilst having treatment and had a bacon sandwich when I got home in a small petite pain I cooked in the oven. Not much, but it filled a hole for lunch. Will have the leftover pork and veg tonight for tea.
Ive ordered some meals from Parsley Box, which you can keep in the cupboard, not the freezer, as we have a tiny freezer on top the fridge, so no room inside. Hoping they will taste nice, a saving as I got 11 meals, swopped one of the two free wines for an extra meal, all for £20 with a big saving. Bought three beef casseroles with dumplings from Tesco on my way home yesterday and should have bought four, but with leftover pork in the freezer, I can manage and these meals are due on Friday. I need to go shopping locally that day and thought these meals would be delivered Thursday when I'm home, but I said if I'm out, to leave them under the covered bench beside our front door, as we are behind a high wooden fence, so they should be safe there for an hour or so. At least if I'm bad, I will have some ready meals to try eating. Let's hope this time round, I'm not so bad, it's just the surgery scars that were set on fire last time, I'm being positive and hoping for the best. How are you coping?
Oh they are gorgeous. I can't do what's app, as I don't use a mobile phone, just my very old iPad that is packing up intermittently now and I've not had time nor energy to drive to the mall to get a new one in John Lewis. Wanted to do it in person in case they can give me a discount on my old one and transfer all data from old one to new one for me. When you add me as a friend and I can figure it out, I'll send you my email address. In the meantime, just post pics on here, or update me, as they look gorgeous cats and I know you own one or two hairy cats too.
Happy New Year

I hope that 2020 is a happy and healthy year for everyone on the thread and the forum. New Year hugs to you all.

Hi Giuliella
Happy new year. Thank you for letting me know you were ok. Glad to hear you have supplies in of food. If I lived near my I would help you but I have a feeling you are not close to me. I am praying for you and hope SE are minimal.
I’m ok suffering with joint pain at the moment. I see my oncologist on Friday and will see what next steps are. I have 3 docataxel left and like you hoping SE are minimal.
Sending my love

Thanks for your message, just read. I'm living in Bristol, but have decided not to have any shopping done for me this week, as I'm not eating much, have supplies in and will need to get into Shirehampton for local shopping on Friday, all being well, so I can get a few bits there, rather than ask someone to buy a few odd items in Lidl for me this time round. No good putting people to so much trouble for a couple of odd items when I can get them locally for this week. I've ordered some of the Parsley Box meals you store in the cupboard rather than in the fridge or freezer, so will try them out, as they may be a good buy for when hubby gets home, don't know when that will be yet, though. In the meantime, they will be good for me, if I like the taste of them. Good value, 10 meals and two small wines (I swopped one of those for another meal) for £19.99, can't be bad eh?
Anyway, may I wish everyone on the thread a Happy and Healthy New Year for 2020 with minimal side effects and woes. Keep on fighting. Lots of hugs and best wishes to all.
