Hi. Had my first lot of chemotherapy this morning does anyone any help with suggestions for easing the sick feeling, tablets not helping at all, thanks.
Try sipping a ginger infusion., have plenty of sleep, don't plan to do things that require lots of movement and don't worry if you don't have much appetite....but actually you may just be unlucky and feel sick whatever you try. Perhaps you will need stronger meds next time but I had the strongest so I know they don't always work either. You must try to keep hydrated though even if you only have very small sips of water.
I hope you do feel a bit better tomorrow but even if it takes a few days/ weeks remember that the sickness won't last for ever and at the end of it the cancer cells will have been destroyed.
Take care.
Love Karen
Hi I use travel sickness bands and they work a treat for me ! Hope you feel better soon xx
Hi
unfortunately nausea for the first few days is normal . After saying that if your anti sickness med doesn't work and you are sick then inform your team .
With nausea if it becomes severe and you are incapacitated , ask for different tablets . You don't have to suffer your team will try to get you settled on tablets that work for you.
Lots of fluid to flush your system and rehydrate will help . Also plenty of rest ..listen to your body .
Im on cycle 5, of EC tomorrow and do get nauseous but lucky for me it is manageable . Eat little and often it can ease thevnausea .
stock your fridge up with small treats that you can eat when you feel ok ...little pots of jelly / rice small portions of fruit .
Chemo can change your taste buds so don't be surprised if that cuppa you were looking forward too tastes foul lol also something you wouldn't normally eat tastes delicious . just go with the flow
Lots of support on here and others will share their experiences with you
good luck
Margaret x
If you cant get hold of sea bands, place 3 fingers across your wrist and choose a spot between just below 3rd finger and massage gently between the 2 guiders.
If they give ondansetron anti sickness remember it can make you constipated.
Xx
Ask about Emend ......if you are not already on it ( !) ...it is expensive and might not be offered as a first line treatment ......but they should help you sort this out , you should not suffer unnecessarily....but I agree about taste buds , somethings I loved taste awful
best wishes. X
