So I'm awaiting results.... Found a lump, 2 weeks later finally got my appointment for breast clinic. 6 biopsies later and I'm still waiting 8 days later as we had a holiday booked.
I havey appointment booked for 1st Nov but I'm really expecting the worst. They had an appointment made for me for 2 days after which I'm feeling was to be a good news appointment but it was cancelled 2hrs before.
My head is a MESS, I'm self employed with loads of work booked for Christmas, lots of deposits etc taken.
I've 2 kids and an overly positive husband who is incredible but he can't see it might be bad news. I can't sleep... Worried sick with a fake smile plastered on my face thinking about everything I have before me
I just needed somewhere to vent, only 1 other person knows so it's been a lonely month
Hi
so sorry to see you needing to join here but it’s a great group for support and knowledge, the vast majority of us have done that, been there and will have experience.
yes, the waits are the worst. But it might be that they will have ALL the results for you, one tends to take a good 2-3 weeks to verify, that’s the HER2 status.
in the meantime, take comfort from reading and knowing you’re certainly not alone! If it all gets to you in the middle of the night and you feel the need to google, please don’t as it’s full of scare stories and often out of date; instead have a look at the ‘AWAKE’ thread on here where you may well find others in a similar situation!

I think the best place to ask (I know a bit but not enough) is in the ‘ask an expert’ place, one of the specialist nurses will be able to explain much better. It generally takes a couple of days to get a reply as they are also on the phone lines. If you want to speak to one of them, then do use the phone line, you might find it helpful anyway as there are financial experts who could help you ensure you have access to all your rights as a self employed person. It’s 0808 808 0000.
what I understand is that it’s a type of bc that has a ‘positive’ which can be well treated with Herceptin, a fairly new drug which is generally given with and following chemotherapy. If ‘negative’ then the drug Herceptin won’t be of any benefit. I’ve just looked at a good site for more information; Herceptin is a monoclonal antibody type of drug which helps attack a specific protein on some early breast cancer cells which show it.
sorry I can’t be more specific, but maybe if you do a search on the site you’ll find more information anyway. My bc was HER2 negative but oestrogen positive, and I had no node involvement so ‘just’ had a mastectomy, but opted for an implant at the time of the op.
And yes, 2am is horribly typical.....

we all try to second guess the results process. In 2018 at my 3 year mammogram I had results on day and they found something on my good boob. They did ultrasound and biopsy and said they would ring with results on Friday (I had test on Monday). They didn’t ring and finally late afternoon I rang. Nurse said ‘oh biopsy is fine but....’. Then went on to say she hadn’t rung as was trying to get me another appointment as they wanted to repeat mammogram. I was so annoyed they hadn’t rung, I was promised a call Monday with date for appt. it didn’t come . So I remembered when I was diagnosed my breast care nurse telling me she was now my advocate and any issues she would act for me. I rang her and she got me appt the next week. The a couple of days later I had a letter for appt with breast surgeon 3 weeks later. I panicked and rang but was told it was standard latter for mammogram and sent out before my BCN had hit me an appt.
Thankfully all clear on repeat mammogram and clear a couple of weeks ago at year 4!
Awesome news on the all clear xx
I understand they they won't give me an answer without all the knowledge etc, but the not knowing is almost worst!??
I have my appointment - but since 1st appointment at GP on 30th Sept to 1st Nov it just feels like soooooooo long I know of which is partly my fault wiyh going on holiday
Hi
I think somebody has already said this ..and as someone with another long term condition .. you most probably know that the waiting is the worst part . All I can add to that is if you read my profile you will see that initially I was at high speed ! Then the waiting started it is so much better once you get your diagnosis and plan .
Try not to read too much ,this forum is a brilliant place for support and answers . Also try not to guess what results will be too many choices !
Two weeks after I had masectomy and sentinel lymph node removal (4/5) I was informed HER-2positive .
This result was not in before op . My treatment plan on profile but we are all different .
What I do know is in plain English If I still have a rougue BC cell that has escaped op then Her- 2 pos. could attach to cell then cause it to multiply and increase rapidly . So treatment plan is to prevent recurrence
But remember you do not know your results yet so at the moment your best plan is to keep yourself busy and try to distract youself ...easier said than done I know . So keep popping on here and browse and chat scream cry whatever somebody nearly always here
