Hi everyone, I have just been diagnosed with breast cancer and after long discussions with the specialist nurses was informed I was high risk as I had previously had cervical cancer at the age of 25 yet my first mammogram wasnt done until I was 52, I'm scared and angry at the same time that I wasnt invited earlier for a mammogram

  • Hi and a warm welcome to this group. Sorry you have had to find yourself here but hopefully you’ll find lots of support and shared experiences. No wonder you feel angry, it’s ridiculous to discover now that you should have been regarded as high risk. And I think we have all felt scared, particularly at the start, when we’re waiting for test results and for treatment plans. It’s somehow better once things get started, the ‘limbo’  stage often seems the worst.

Do you know yet what type of breast cancer you have and possible options for treatment? When you have more information there will always be someone here in a similar situation - you’ll never be alone! Keep posting, feel free to rant and rave and also ask questions as there’s usually somebody with an answer. Sending gentle hugs, HFxx

Hi, Pepsi09 I would advise you to get a 3D Mammogram test done, as it has the ability to detect cancer tissue, which 2D Mammogram cannot detect.
