    Morning

I reach for piriton, antihistamine, if my arm itches. To be honest I haven't had cellulitis. I haven't got any lymph nodes under one arm though and I know how worried I get if there's an issue.

It's one of those things I try to keep in a box in my head. It does make me very careful though at times.

  • I was recommended Dermol cream to try and prevent infection. Rub in after shower once a day.

  • Hi

I have had issues with a badly scarred and damaged leg since a road accident in 1983.  I actually ended up with MRSA in it from cellulitis during the time when I was diagnosed with BC.  So, in answer to your question, Epimax cream is excellent and very soothing.  I get mine on prescription as I use it on the scar tissue all the time, but can be bought over the counter at pharmacies.

General advice for dealing with cellulitis: (from the plastic surgeon I saw in Salisbury - one of the leading hospitals in the world in that field  - it took me nearly 2 years to get the referral to them out of my doctor)

    1. Wash it daily with badedas shower gel, there's properties in it which really help (horse chestnut), I even use shower gel/ shampoo - does the same.

    2. Leave it open to the air as much as you can.

    3. Use a cream to prevent it cracking and being open to bugs. (on any area which is not an open wound).

After 2 years of having MRSA in an open wound in my leg following cellulitis and even 3rd line IV antibiotics failing to heal it up; within a month of following these instructions my leg had healed.

I hope the antibiotics work quickly for you and heal it up.

    Best wishes,
