Hi I’m Hayley I have been having chemotherapy for 9 weeks now and just had my 3rd cycle , I thought I was doing ok but this one seems to be kicking my arse I have never felt so weak . Has anyone else experienced the same after cycle 3 ??

  • Hi

Hello Hayley  If you fill in your profile with a potted history it helps when people replying Blush

What type of chemo are you on ? I'm on 3 weekly EC x6  and at moment I'm day 8 of second cycle .

Like you I'm  doing ok. minimal and manageable  SEs  I do think the whole thing with side effects is completely random and at times I  feel like a ticking time BombRoflRofl

All I keep doing us listening to my  body and if it needs to sit or sleep then that is what I do

    Hopefully things will stay calm

I'm sure someone will be along shortly that has /is having a similar cycle to yourself

    take care xx

  • Hi If it's EC then yes. I had mine just over 3 weeks ago and the first two weeks were really awful, followed by a dizzy week with face rash a couple of mouth ulcers and sore head and stomach (that sounds bad but it's actually way better than the first two weeks! It does build up, and I went into it with a couple of blood results low, so goodness knows what they were in week 2!

Take it easy, and if you are struggling then speech to your doctor or hospital pharmacist. x

    Hiya

I'm on day 10 of my 4th cycle of FEC and with this one I've really hit a brick wall with fatigue, had bad jelly legs for the first few days and lots of other niggling SEs that are worse than they've been so far.  In fact my first two cycles I barely had any issues, cycle 3 I began to have the jelly legs and dizzy spells but this cycle it has definitely been worse.

But it's important to remember that we are all different and will all have different SEs at different times etc.  Don't forget to make sure that you let your team know how you are feeling as Londonmum suggests.

    XOXO

    Hi HJK84,

i had my 3rd cycle of EC on 12/9, it has been the worst yet, I had the usual nausea and tiredness, but also vein inflammation and that damn chemo cloud of doom - like a little depression bomb! I actually felt like a vulnerable cancer patient for the first time Then yesterday I came out the other side and I’ve felt great today.

Its just the cumulative effects I think, I’m sure that you will come through the other side like me and think - why was I so concerned! But that’s easier said than done when you are feeling weak.

Keep strong and kick cancers butt!!

Hi I've only had one lot of chemo and I am struggling.  I am tired, got heart burn, headaches, tightness in the chest. I am aware it can get much worse and not sure how I am going to cope. I know these side effects are not as bad as some but I have a very low pain threshold. Any suggestions out there.

    Hi

The main thing to remember throughout all of this treatment is that this is a well trodden path, the doctors and nurses have a great set of tablets available to treat all side effects. If the tablets you gave are not working ask for an alternative. No one wants to see you suffer.

Good luck and hugs Eileen x
