My life after a mastectomy

Has anyone else had this.I took the news of my breast cancer well.Had a mastectomy,recovered well.6 months later,I wasnt well had a CT,and something was found on my Liver,but it wasnt anything.Then dizziness started another CT.They found I had the site of a very old stroke(TIA)My life however has gone out of the window.I have photophobia,hypersensitivity,the Doctor has put me on Gabbapentin,ended with suspected heart attack in hospital (wasnt luckily) gave me ammatriptolyne(same thing)I have found that these three things have frightened me.The Doctor now says its PTSD due to the shock,and my brain went into melt down hence Cental Nervous system.What can I do,?Who can I go to for help?has anyone had this reaction?

    So sorry to hear all of this - it sounds absolutely an awful time that you have been through!

    It sounds as if you need some counselling to cope with everything that you have endured.  Your doctor should have recommended you some? You can call the helpline to chat to one of the staff with Macmillan to get more advice too.  (the number is below).

    Also, you may want to see if there is a Maggies Centre near you (click the green link) as they are a face to face organisation specifically for anyone affected by cancer. 

    I'm obviously not saying that this will 'solve' anything, but may just help a little.

    Thank you Lesley for your advice.My Doctor isnt bothered really.She just keeps offering the tablets.Sertraline,Gabbapentin,amatriptaline?etc I rang I talk myself,but there is a 7month waiting list.

  • Could you try fast tracking it through the hospital and a Macmillan nurse?

  • The 1st part  is similar  to me. But I'm having to go back for  another  ct scan in 6 months.. as I've just  finished radiotherapy.  As they  say its nothing.  So hope it is nothing.  I hope and wish you well.
