I had my mastectomy 7 weeks ago, I was diagnosed with stage 3 aggressive breast cancer, I am due to start chemo next Friday, I’ve got my 1st appointment on Monday with the nurses, then have the line fitted Tuesday, 1st chemo session on the 9th, it all seems very overwhelming constant rounds from now on with hospital visits, roll on 20th December when it all finishes, just 21 days straight of radiotherapy, I must be totally ignorant or just not listening to anyone, I can’t seem to process any information given to me, could anyone please explain what the 1st appointment is for, I think if I see it in writing it will become real, I don’t post a lot in here but I do read an awful lot, that has helped me a great deal, I just feel lost and confused as to where it will lead onto from Monday, it’s my own fault by not taking in what I have been told,
Hiya,
Could it be your pre chemo check? When I went they showed me round the place, gave me a thermometer and a chemo card with phone numbers on. It was just an information giving session. i remember watching a presentation with all the what to do and what to avoid things.
i am assuming you have already met the oncologist?

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Yes I met with the oncologist, but I really didn’t take in anything that was said, I really thought I had gone through the worst with the mastectomy, but when I received my chemo plan through the post it frightened the life out of me, they did say they had caught all the cancer but the plan that’s been set I am starting to wonder, nothing was mentioned about bone injections but apparently I have to have them aswell every 3 weeks
Hiya,
Chemo was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting it ti be. I don't have the bone injections so can't help you there.

Hiya,
i had chemo just over 2 years ago now. I also had a picc line - I loved it, definitely worth having. Once chemo starts, it does go quite quick. You will get through this.
