Hi , i have been on Tomoxifen for at least a year now , i have hardly had a winks nite sleep much ,. waking 2 to 3 times during the nite . Its really difficult as i work in a shop serving customers on checkout and all i want to do is sleep , but my eyes feel achy as so tired . This menopause is a nightmare , i can be okay one minute the next my neck and face are glowing red and i feel sooo hot .i get moments when i feel emotional and end up crying and times when i feel i could just explode like a volcano . its awful this just isnt the normal me . I even cried because i felt so tired and had to go work . I have been to see my GP who prescribed me some sleeping tablets zopiclone 7.5mg to help me get some sleep ,but only a week worth as you probably know they can be addictive. yes they did help but couldnt have them long term .Anyway my gp emailed my breast consultant asking if okat to swop the tomoxifen to Letrozole , and he has said yes its ok . i am starting the letrozole tommorrow morning , and my gp said can have less side effects . is anyone else on these , have you found them better than the tomoxifen. i am really hoping these help me , i cant carry on like this getting no sleep . Got 3 days of sleeping tablet from gp today , last nite was awful waking up and my face feeling so hot and feeling sweating , turning pillow over all time to cold side . this is a nightmare come true as was cancer i had and the chemo and radiotherapy i had . just need to to be to manage this somehow . cant have this interring with my job .
Hi ,
So sorry you are going through this, it sounds like severe SE’s.
Im on letrozole, only on my 2nd month, so new to me, however I can’t speak them being better than Tamoxifen as I haven’t taking them.
All I can say is I have a few aches, especially in joints, my knee being the worse. Dr told me he thought I was post menopausal but I’d had no symptoms, however now I wake in the night with hot flushes and my face goes red too.
Sorry this is not much help.
hugs Tina x
Hiya,
I have been taking letrozole for nearly 2 years now, but I did not have tamoxifen either. I did notice side effects in the first few months, mild hot flushes and achey joints. I used to walk down the stairs in the morning like a robot!! However I do not have side effects any more. Think my body has got used to it!!
Hope you cope better on letrozole.
Cwtches,
Gay xxx
I'm on letrozole 5 months, difficulty in sleeping. G P prescribed zopiclone but to nervous to take it. What about melatonin?
