Does more than one tumor mean mastectomy?

Having had 3 mammograms, 2 biopsies, one ultrasound, one titanium clip and an MRI, there seems to be another tumor...and so the process starts again. Do I need to worry if my consultant couldn't feel my lump (when any other person could) and do i need to worry that he's leaving the hospital soon?

when i was first diagnosed as having a 6cm lump i had an MRI and had started my chemotherapy. I was told that on my MRI they had seen another area of concern. So i went back, had another mammogram and a biopsy done on the new area.

When the results came back it was benign even thought i already had a lump that was breast cancer.

I wouldn't worry that he's leaving the hospital, is he the only consultant there? at my hospital there are a few so maybe you will just go with one of them instead. They all have the same aim and that is to make you better.

My GP couldn't feel my lump, on two separate visits, me and my Husband could, when I was eventually referred to Breast Clinic the Dr there couldn't feel it either but it was seen on Ultrasound.  When I went in for my mastectomy my breast was marked to ensure they took the correct one off but my Consultant said once they got me into theatre he thought they had got the wrong side because he struggled to feel it, it was 4.5CM too.  I wouldn't worry about your Consultant leaving the Hospital, there are usually a few at each Hospital.

    Best Wishes.

Yes. You're right, the nurse said they quite often follow up on other people's patients. And yes the aim is to get us all well. Today is a more positive day. Thank you.
