Good old Letrozole! Another UTI just starting. Phined doctor. Prescribed anti biotics to pick up later. But have a brain MRI this afternoon - any tips for deeling with these feelings of urgency whilst I am laying still for 45 mins? Also at hairdresser iver lunchtime but will just have to keep nipping to gheir loo!
Any tips?
Hi AnnJac,
UTI's constant problem for me too, thanks to Femara!! I use Cystopurin to relieve the symptoms to start with, they were also recommended to me by my Oncologist, who said the Urine is Acidic and Cystopurin makes it alkaline which helps relieve the burning and pain. Hope this helps. Best Wishes.
, sorry to hear this. I always have loo problems. I told them that I had to go directly before the MRI, and they were sympathetic. I still, had to go in the middle of it, they were not too pleased but it was doable. Good luck and big hugs xxxxx
Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!
Thanks everyone. Pharmacy made up prescription urgently and I was told to take a double dose straight away. Then 2 a day. So at least I've been able to start them. Managed at hairdressers for a couple of hours so hoping that if I go before MRI I will be ok. Mind over matter. But I will warn them.
Hope you're MRI goes well, last time i went i was so nervous i needed to, you know, not wee.
I went to the toilet and could hear the nurses outside waiting for me. I was so embarrassed because i knew they knew why i was in there
Then thought it needed to go again once i got into the scanner
I'm sure you'll be much more lady like than me xx
Lol . I'm hoping this one doesn't involve dye. And at least I won't be face down with boobs dangling and then clasped into orifice. Maybe more ladylike on my back!
Hi Anne,
I am really sorry to hear that you have UTI problems. My mother has experienced severe UTI post sepsis from E Coli she is 85 now had sepsis nearly 2 years ago. I wanted to let you know that as well as the obvious drink plenty which she did she also introduced acidophilus and lots of homemade natural yoghurt to her diet on a daily basis and we believe this has helped her immune system she is doing well now, still has the odd UTI but nothing like she was. If you thought it worth a try best to check with your specialist first to see if they are OK with you taking it.
Hope you feel better very soon

Hi AnnJac,
oh dear; I know EXACTLY how awful this is! My heartfelt sympathy!
i began all this with the menopause, way before the lovely Letrozole, Vagifem had helped quite a lot, and I’m still on it even though it’s a small dose of oestrogen, there’s research which indicates it is held locally and doesn’t really enter the bloodstream. I did discuss it with surgeon and we felt quality of life was more important!
I too get a lot of urgency with it, and so I really hope you manage that scan. Probably the double dose will act quickly.
Hugs xxx

Hi
You poor thing. I really feel for you. I went through a phase of UTIs pre BC but once I upped my water intake, they have got much better. I don’t think that it helps that the menopausal stuff makes that area fragile and susceptible to infection.
I hope the antibiotics work for you and you’re feeling better soon.

That's really pants , I think UTIs are a real torture, lucky for me I haven't had one for years but had a spell of them in my 30s. Grim. The only other tip I was told then, but may now be out of fashion, was that cranberry juice was good for lining the urinary tract or some such. Hope it responds quickly to the double dose. HFxx
