Hi, my mum was diagnosed August 2017, she had a lumpectomy and axillary clearance with a couple of affected nodes but not clear margins so after chemo which she completed in February she had a double mastectomy, followed by Radiotherapy which finished end of June last year. She has had problems with fluid needing drained off and she needed to go back and forth for some time to the breast care nurse to get this done, but by the end of last year it had settled down although she still felt some fluid there. In past couple of weeks it has felt tender and a large area on the affected side which was the right has gone purply/red and blotchy with what looks like broken capillaries all around it. Has anyone experienced this at all so long after Radiotherapy has ended. She had an angiogram a week ago but that department does not think this is connected. Sorry for long winded post. She is seeing nurse again next week.
HI
I'm sorry you haven't had a reply to your post. It may be that no-one else has experienced these symptoms who are still on this site. A lot of ladies have 'moved on' and stopped visiting the Macmillan site after about a year.
I'm glad your Mum is seeing a nurse shortly and she can always give her breast care nurse a ring on the Green Pathway for any concerns before any appointment she has.
As I'm replying it is bumping your post up so there may also now be someone around who can help.
Kindest wishes,
