I didn't think it would be like this

Hi.

So it's bern a fun week. Had fec2 of 3 and then due 4 taxotere.

Had a picc line last Monday and chemo on Tuesday. Everything seemed fine. Friday I started to go downhill and had less energy every day. Slept 16 to 18 hours Sun and Mon? Couldn't get food or anything. Just wiped out.

The nurse came this morning to flush the line through and I started to feel faint. That's my last memory, I came  round in the recovery position and she was trying to talk to me. Took over an hour to get me levels back up and she said it was touch and go for the ambulance.

So frightening.

How do you cope with extreme fatigue?

If I'm like this now  what will it be like as i have more?

So scared of how I'll cope alone.

Amy advise would be gratefully received.

Thank you

Oh hun.  You need to ring your oncology unit.  Today.  It shouldn't be like this for you.  You need to be checked out.

And i do hope you feel better soon.

Do as has said, ring your breast care nurse or the emergency chemo number. You should not be fainting, they will advise you whats best and look after you. There could be an underlying cause, they can sort and make it better for you. It could be something as simple as you're dehydrated. Can't understand why the nurse didn't tell you to do this after you'd fainted.

They may even lower your next dose to be sure it doesn't happen again. You do not need to suffer unnecessarily.

Good Luck and let us know how you get on xx

  • Hi Lesley,

seriously, I hope you’ve been admitted, this level of exhaustion with fainting doesn’t sound right,

sending you lots of gentle hugs xxx

  • No I'm still here. Feel a little better now thanks. And have eaten cheese and biscuits.

The doctor said my temperature was ok. And probably better at home.

They're taking bloods tomorrow to check kidney function. So we'll see what that says.
