It's 17 years since I had my original triple negative breast cancer.
It looks likely that I have a tumour on my pituitary gland as my prolactin hormone level is extremely high. (2000 + when it should be max 29)
These tumours are normally benign but because of my history I was thinking the brain is one area breast cancer likes for metastases!
A very low percentage, less than 1% I think, of these pituitary tumours are metastatic breast cancer so it is very unlikely but not completely impossible.
Having been triple negative it is unlikely I'd get metastases now but also not impossible.
I suppose I am worrying as I was a "radiotherapy failure" - 5% of people - meaning I had a recurrance of the BC.
I also have a habit of being in like the 1% - like the one who gets it, whatever it is, when most people don't, whatever it is.
Does anyone know anything about this topic?
When BC spreads to the brain are there common areas it tends to go or is it totally variable?
Hi
so sorry that you find yourself back here. I don't have any knowledge about this, I'm afraid and hopefully you will get some other responses soon.
I did want to suggest you post this in Ask a Nurse - they have the expert knowledge to be able to answer your questions.
I can completely understand you thinking the worst, but hang on to those statistics - they are very much in your favour. I know it's tempting to think we might be unlucky or "always the one" but remember that is a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts. There were many, many times when you weren't the one - far more, in fact! You haven't remembered all of those though because you had no need to.
Try not to worry - easier said than done, I know, but it does drain you.
I'm guessing you are looking at a string of diagnostic scans etc now? Hopefully they will happen quickly and put your mind at rest.
We'll keep our fingers crossed for you - let us know how you are getting on.

Thanks for your kind reply.
Yes, I know how small the risk is!!
I don't normally give any thought to my BC nowadays, it's so long ago, but have an oncology check up in May, for which am just about to book apppointment so I suppose it is on my mind.
Hopefully you will soon be back to barely thinking about the BC. Hope all goes well with tests etc and oncology check!
