Hi .I got diagnosed with breast cancer in may 2018 and had mastectomy on one breast after finding out I had hormone receptor cancer. I had a a reconstruction using tummy fat/blood vessels .I returned back to work January 2019 .I have had to return to Hospital every 5 weeks to get tummy drained as keeps filling with blood like fluid where it hasn't stuck right inside. When it fills up my belly goes rock hard and is very uncomfortable where even walking is an issue .I feel nobody understands how uncomfortable it actually is .Now it has filled up really bad and feel bad to phone in sick as feel that my boss doesn't understand and thinks I am making it up .Has anyone else had tummy problem after surgery
Kind Regards
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm not a member of this group but was passing and noticed that your post had gone unanswered. By replying it will bump you back to the top of the page where, hopefully, someone with the right experience will see it and reply.
I'm also going to tag my fellow Community Champions and GRANNY59 into my reply to you as they look after this group and may be able to help you more than I can.
When you have a minute it would be really useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hey
Again, welcome to the community, although I'm sorry to hear your struggling so much after your reconstruction surgery. This whole experience is difficult enough without the added complications you're having, I hope they resolve soon hun.
In the meantime, heres a link to Macmillan information about the type of reconstruction you've had, using tissue from your stomach.
You may find many other members of this group who have had the same kind of problems, but I just wanted to say, that you're so brave, and so inspiring, you keep reminding yourself of that each day. You're a star for getting through what you've gone through, and continue to have issues with.
In regards to your boss, if she doesnt believe such a genuine thing, then that alone isn't a good boss anyway, but if you can, maybe ask your consultant/breast surgeon for a letter just explaining the issues you're still having. A letter from a consultant cant be argued with, so then she will have no reason to not believe you. It's not something you should have to do, but if that Makes you feel more comfortable about taking sick days when you need to, then do it. You know your body, and what you're doing through isn't like going through a cold or something silly that others take days off sick for, so try not to feel guilty. You have no reason to at all. If anything, your work should be grateful you're back so soon, while you're still having to return to hospital regularly to have your stomach drained.
If you have any further concerns or worries, our Ask A Nurse is available to use whenever you would like some medical advice from a professional.
Lots of love, and keep smiling!
