My mum had breast cancer 4 years ago. She had radiotherapy and an operation to remove the cancerous cells, she was given the all clear. She has been taking hormone tablets and attends yearly momograms. She had her 4th yearly momogram on Tuesday and has received a letter today asking for her to attend another appointment for another monogram for different views. This hasn't happened before and we are all so worried. Has this happened to anyone else?
Hi Mygirls welcome to the forum and sorry to hear how worried that you are.
Sometimes the images are not all that clear and they sometimes have to take them again and this may be what has happened for your mum.
Hope you get the answers and that they get clear images.
Sending very best wishes for now.
Thank you GRANNY59. Its just so worrying I'm staying positive for her and shes staying positive for me but i know we are both thinking the worst. I hope next Thursday comes quickly and isnt the start of this process all over again x
Hi Mygirls,
I’m with Granny59. Do you know what type of bc your ma had. For example ILC is difficult to pick up on a mammogram and they may just be being extra thorough, particularly as awareness of this type has changed some hospital protocols. Hoping all goes well and Thursday comes round quickly too and most importantly all is well.
You take care.
Hugs
At my 3 year mammogram last year I was given results in the day. Area of concern on my good boob! They did ultrasound then a biopsy and told me I would have a call on the Friday with results. I had no phone call so eventually plucked up courage to ring and was told biopsy clear but they wanted to redo mammogram so two weeks later I went back and had repeat mammogram on area of concern. Thankfully whatever they had seen was no longer there so they decided it must have been a bruise from knocking my boob. I have no recollection of knocking boob but they are quite big so maybe I had !
Thank you so much for your reply. I'm not sure of the type she had. Yes I really hope your right. I will come back and let you know how she gets on.
I really hope this is the case with her. It's the natural reaction to think the worst isnt it. It's so frightening the thought that it could be happening all over again. But I'm trying to stay positive and helping her think more positively too. Thank you for your reply.
