  • Hi

I can't answer your question as I'm not taking this drug but I noticed that your post had gone unanswered. By replying to you it will bump it back to the top of the page where it'll hopefully be seen by someone who has the experience you need.

While you're waiting to see if you get any replies you could type 'tamoxifen' into the search bar in this group to read previous posts on this subject.

Another alternative is to post your question in ask a nurse and one of the specialist cancer nurses will respond within 2 working days.

When you have a minute could you pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this just click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

I'm also going to tag  into my reply to you as she is one of the Community Champions who looks after the breast cancer group. As I have seen her around the forums this evening she might be able to help you more than I can.

  • Hi Solomon1 my fellow champ Latchbrook has tagged me in on your post.

I'm  not aware of the long term effects of Tamoxifen but if you have been taking these for five years Im wondering if you were going to develop issues with these then that would have happened by now.

Its difficult with any of these types of drugs as the whole point of them is to stop us producing Oestrogen and that alone can cause us issues particularly with Vaginal dryness as an example.

Personally and it it is only my personal opinion I think that any symptoms you would have had would have happened by now.

I think though that Latchbrook has given you some really good advice and it may be worth posting this in the Ask a Nurse section of the site as they may be able to answer with or information for you.

Sorry not tot have been of more help at this time.

Sending my very best wishes your way for now. xxxx

Thankyou for your positivity re Tamoxifen , but will talk to a adviser if any symptoms arise .

i think when you have been on any med for a long period of time you wonder how long term it will affect you .

    Kind regards Lucy

    Hi Lucy,

I have just seen your post and thought I would reach out.  I'm in my eighth year on Tamoxifen.  I always feel a bit like I'm an unknown quantity at this point.  I'm on it until year ten, so a couple more years to go.

Wishing you lots of health and happiness,

    Trudy
