hi I have just been diagnosed with HER2 positive breast cancer and I am wondering if anyone else has too -?xx

  • Hi

There's quite a few of us here. I'm nearly 2 years post diagnosis now, and fit and well.I

Do you have a treatment plan yet?

It's scary, but doable. I was too early for the latest combo, which is getting some astonishing results.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have, or just ramble your thoughts over the page. There's usually someone around.

    Hugs  xxx

  • hi and very warm and equally shitty/ sad welcome

Yes HER2 will tick lots of pathology reports for a whole range of people with breast cancer. In fact at diagnosis I was +++. Never ever scored that high on a test in my life

Right. The treatment may include surgery, chemo and radiotherapy. Plus some meds to pop for 5-10 yrs. I have got to say ‘May’ until the professionals make a decision that include lots of factors that include your age, menopausal status and family factors

But it is a different world for people with breast cancer with so many different options specific to US.

You are now in good hands professionally

And good safe non judgemental hands here

Post and ask as many questions as you need

But stop. Breathe. Listen to you best mate - your body. Plan to make you the top priority in your life . In doing so you will mend physically , mentally and emotionally so much quicker

  • Thank you x x x x  I am seeing oncologist on Thursday but the surgeon who first told me I had it said I would be having chemo - surgery- chemo and then radiotherapy x x

  • No doubt the first chemo will be to shrink the critter as you are possibly a young woman

Then surgery to remove whatever chemo cannot get

But each and every step of the way through this poop there is a someone here who can say yes ...., this is how it all goes

So keep posting we will be here to support and guide

  • Hi I am 49 - I think they are hoping it will shrink it to nothing - although my tumour is only 18 mm - I am having a tag fitted into tumour so if the chemo has shrunk it my surgeon ca find it when she does lumpectomy xx

Mine was 3mm look that up on a ruler. Still took a little persuading to bleeeeeep off.

49 lovely you are a spring chicken - Tee hee. And I have an appalling sense of humour . I’m allowed I’m retired. OAP!!! Just look at my pic you’ll feel so sorry for me.

Chemo thread available for support and advice. I’m on my iPhone so can’t link and I should be drinking my cocoa!!! So in the morning I’ll pop a link on here

Now as I’m passed my sell by date I’ll say goodnight and hope the gremlins of doubt allow you to sleep. If not there are some serious night owls on a thread called Awake. They are ok and supportive

    Take care

  • Hi

it sounds like you will be having the Gold treatment for your cancer. I was diagnosed about 2 years ago and the new treatment you are having has been approved since my diagnosis. I am guessing you will have chemotherapy along with perjeta (new drug) and Herceptin (older but fantastic treatment) as Leolady56 says to shrink and destroy the tumour. There are several ladies on here who have had complete responses to the treatment , so I know it all seems very daunting at the moment but you will get through it,it all happens so quickly that it is such a lot to take in.
