It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • Oh I do like to be beside the seaside.....

Back in our ‘home from home’ flat, courtesy of Kay....our only problem is hubs’wheels, the tyre was flat. Found a small cycle shop who had the right sized inner tube, but by the time we got back to the flat, well, it was flat again, so a return visit and a new inner tube, just hope it is ok now!

  • Hope the inner tube stays inflated Moomy. Things like this always seem to happen on holiday! Have a great time xxxxx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • Thanks, Seaspirit, we do too! It was really frustrating as we had to go twice!

  • Ah well, it seems to still be ‘inflated’ tonight...,

Can’t sleep, himself is well away....strange bed I guess, though it’s really comfy (memory foam mattress).

Hope weather is going to be kind to us (though brought some DVD’s, books and magazines in case it isn’t!)

    Hope sleep comes soon....

  • So far, so good with the ‘wheels’!

He wheeled and I walked, LOTS!

Have also had my annual paddle....but since the beach is steeply shingled, I waited till almost low tide to get a flat, sandy beach....trouble is, all the ‘mountaineering’ to get back up!

But have also had a fish and chip lunch followed by the best Ice cream anywhere, at Di Paolo’s. Hubs had 2 scoops of strawberry cheesecake, I had raspberry sorbet and dark chocolate, a scoop of each, yum!!!!

  • So, I posted but my post has ‘gone for approval’? Maybe as I put the name of a fine home made Italian ice cream shop that I bought ice cream from today after my fish and chips?

Had the annual paddle, trouble is the beach is in shingle banks until you get towards low water mark when it slopes very gently and is sandy, so there is quite a struggle up the banks on the way back, a bit like cancer treatment really, three steps forward, two and a half back!

ps, so far so good with the wheels, hope it holds out all holiday!

And I should have used sun cream, my skin is tingling well!

  • Hi  - your post has reappeared. Sounds like a perfect seaside break - yum yum, plus some paddles.

Ive not been on this site much recently as work has been mad busy as Im finishing next Thursday for my little holiday, then mastectomy on 9 July.  Feels really odd as I will be off work until September.  Will need some hints and tips from you and others as to how to keep from doing to much after my operation.

Enjoy yourself. And I LOVE ice-cream, so need some photos xxx
