It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • I was surprised,  as I had expected still to feel sad, and yes I was but only in the background, I guess I came out of myself a bit. Once lady asked so much about why I did this, was I a member of staff (No), what my background was and whether I still enjoyed it after 12 years (yes), she was so interested. I told her that talking to the public and explaining so they could understand, was still such a pleasure.

I slept the sleep of the really tired last night though!

Tomorrow I’m going in again but have a Dexa scan booked at 1pm so will need to leave early.

it’s a busy week this week as I’ve got a podiatry appointment and an auction valuer on Tuesday, Henry-sit Wednesday overnight (daughter and partner want to pay their respects even though they know it will take ages in a queue) Thursday choir, Friday asthma nurse and probably jabs, then the museum again, then Sunday I will be going in again as we have a celebration of one of the early volunteers of Bletchley Park who used to manage tours and visitors, and moved across to the Computer Museum when the new CEO of BP decided to split the site and had a big fence put up between the two. Phew, will be exhausted!

  • Oh Face palm I don’t know what day, month even year it is most of the time these days, I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow anyway as I think of all fruit loops every day.

How lovely you have signed the book, we have one at the Cathedral but I’m not up to getting into town at the moment. Xx

  • Bless you, I totally get that! I’m like that if I don’t go into the museum, my 2 days there keep me organised and centred!

I too think of the Fruit Loops a lot and send cyber hugs every day!

  • Watching highlights from the Proms, some concerts I’ve missed….. emotional again at times. (I guess that’s the recent death of Her Majesty)

Ive printed out some copies ready for choir on Thursday and will have a look through sometime when I get a free moment (hmmm!)
