It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

Hi Helen, thank you got your reply :-)

No I’m not on Warfarine  I did have a minor blood clot on leg in minor vein ( had US to check it ) My mum had varicose veins ( bad) on right leg. I’ve been spared so far.

I’m going to ask about difference re Ad Cal and Calcichew as want to know from my Onc what the difference is on Monday 11th, when I’m due a check with her and SBCN who attends but says nothing, could easily be replaced with a cardboard cut out ( sorry it’s what I fee).

  • I am building up aches and pains slowly and steadily and am now getting towards the end of the second month complete on Letrozole.

Yes I think it IS responsible, I’m on Accord brand but take Claritin (generic Loratidine) which may be helping a bit. After yesterday’s 3 mile walk I came home with hip aches, this morning it was wrists and ankles that told me off for getting going.....neck (which is arthritic anyway) has been letting me know it hurts a bit for a week or so.

    Another 5 years? Heck!

  • Yes Moomy, it's a bummer! Xxx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • Hi Seaspirit,

I’d have hit the ‘like’ button but it’s dislike really!

(Extra practise for me today, we two altos are doing the solos in both the Vivaldi and the Durante in unison as the acoustic is dry and we are both scaredy cats too, so will help support each other!)

  • Tomorrow is going to be interesting; too to toe time, hairdresser first, then podiatrist! So yes, literally top to toe!

Then if we feel up to it and the weather is ok, will go out for a walk/wheel, me walking and hubs using his powered wheels. That’s if the weather plays ball!

Then Saturday while hubs is at BP I will take 3 trains and a walk to visit my old school in the centre of Warwick, possibly for my last time to those buildings as they need more room so are moving to new buildings, will get a chance to see plans on Saturday, hopefully.

  • Gosh that sounds a busy couple of days - but nice to get some personal pruning done.

We had a bit of a session on wellbeing at work today and we focussed on the 5 steps to mental wellbeing

And I think you are having a good crack at them in one way or the other, and well as being kind to yourself!

  • Ooooh, like that, ‘personal pruning’, Eddiboy! Hahaha!

    Hope you’re doing ok?

  • Nice to have a bit of support in your first solo postop, Moomy xx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • Hair done (shampoo, cut and blow dry) now for a spot of watering in the garden before driving off to see my podiatrist (who has looked after my feet, on and off for a good few years now) - it may sound a touch excessive but I have a tendency to Ingrowing toenails so he keeps me up to scratch!

  • Think I’ve walked my socks off!

Firstly round to my hairdresser, (and back of course) then partway through the town where my podiatrist works to the bank and back, then this afternoon went with hubs to a nearby beauty spot and I walked while he wheeled, which was just over 3 miles.....

now sat with a glass of Pimms in the garden!

yup, will put all those calories back on!!! Apple Watch tells me I’ve done all except the ‘stand’ challenge well in excess of my daily quota!
