It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • yes he’s ok! Phew!!!!
this morning I got woken around 7, he went for a wee and then snuggled back on the bed as a nice warm cushion and we went to sleep again for another hour!

He’s been pretty good today, a 2 mile walk zonked him out for a while, but he’s happy playing with some newly mended toys again.

  • I had an escape to yoga, put his bark collar on (it doesn’t even need switching on!) so he just whined and snuggled with hubs.

But he was really excited when I got back and we’ve had a good play and a walk for essentials.

  • And we’ve had a good night too, woke around 7 and was then allowed to curl up on the bed where he is asleep again!
The bark collar works wonders, he doesn’t even need it switching on!

  • Mr OpenReach man came to sort out our dodgy phone and internet, it’s now working superbly! Bless him, he fitted the new socket and classed every other bit of work he did as assessing wiring! Gold star, that man!

we now have our router and Arlo plugged in downstairs (they used to be on the landing windowsill) and all the new phones and Arlo cameras plus ring doorbell work really well. Got a new router coming tomorrow but this is working so well I’m not sure it’s needed; perhaps we will hang onto it ‘in case’ as there will be loads of things to set up!

  • New router arrived, still not too sure I will bother, we each have pads, phones and laptops, then the 3 smart TVs and the freesat box.....then both the kids will need to sign in..heck!

This morning has been a long one as such a bright day woke the monster early (around 6.30) and he then was allowed to snooze on the bed. He’s really been quite good though, he does play with his squeaky toys.

  • Henry-pup had managed to almost step in something (yuk, why don’t people clear up after their pets?) on our short essentials walk this morning so a bath was run, he immediately zoomed to the opposite end of the house, so had to be caught and carried up!

But he had such a good game with a big old towel afterwards! Then cuddles near the heater to dry thoroughly and warm through!

  • Today we did sleep till 7am, he had a longish walk yesterday afternoon and went really hyper once home (in fact was verging on it during the last half mile of our walk) but we also kept him busy till around 10.30pm. Maybe that’s the way to get Henry to sleep late?
this morning, I was up and about promptly as I went into the museum to do a speedy disinfect of areas people touch, (there are bottles of hand sanitiser around, plus boxes of tissues) plus cleaning up oil that the Bombe drips. (Hadn't been there for 2 Saturdays so a bit more than usual) and also to talk about next Saturdays celebration day. Looks like I’m going to need to ‘dress up’ ie put on a modern day equivalent to a WRNS uniform!

So got Henry-pup out for essentials before I went, hubs said he whined quite a bit but settled within half an hour, but really happy to see me home again!

  • And a wet wet wet walk (once Henry has his coat on and got shifted from the mat he’d decided to sit on while on strike!) for essentials (why MUST he ‘go’ in long grass?!) we had a battle with his towel to get dry and the rest of his exercise was throwing and fetching squeaky toys!

It’s been an odd day too as we had folk come to fit the electrics for the tumble dryer ( 10 years ago the kitchen fitters did the wiring but not the same as washing machine and dishwasher, very cross they got away with that!) and then someone to give us an idea on price for a small porch extension. Poor Henry was a bit disturbed, but his bark collar came into its own!

Tomorrow we have fence panels being delivered.....(it goes on!)

  • I’ve got my 2year mammogram at the end of the month, last year it was in April but (maybe because of Leap Year?) it’s a bit early.

when does the worry ever end?

  • How does the bark collar work ?

Good luck with the mammo. My 11 year mammo snd 3year onco/surgeon and colonoscopy coming up st the same time as yours. As you say, never ends.

You must be very worried about your daughter too at the moment. Always something. xxx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!
