It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • I get mega aches after all my activities, get up like a ninety year old,, but it gradually wears off if  I keep going. After rest it is geriatric until I get moving again, As long as I keep moving!!!!! Xxx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • Oh no , something always gets you! xxx

  • I was so achey when I went to bed (early-ish!) But after a decent sleep today is better.

And what I am feeling in my boob is response to a foreign body (the implant) rubbing against normal tissues. It’s all normal but might be occurring a bit on the early side. Phew! Saw my original surgeon who is just lovely and reassured me that they would MUCH rather see worried patients than have them continue to worry and maybe miss something.

We talked quite a bit about Lipo filling and I’m beginning to think it may be more trouble than it’s worth for me. She is happy to refer me at any time and says the plastic surgeon will again discuss and say if it’s worth proceeding or not.

I also think that if the implant needs removing sooner rather than later, due to the hardening or my tissues hardening around it, maybe that is the time for a slight increase in size to match the other boob better!

  • Glad you have been reassured xx

  • Feeling a bit hoarse, we were really busy explain the Bombe this afternoon! A big group of really interested people.

Good to put my feet up and watch trashy but funny Eurovision tonight. There is a silly, family  regime, a swig of drink for each and every change of key, tempo, change of costume (remember Bucks Fizz and the rip off skirts?) and other daft stuff..... which was dictated by daughter.....who has been involved in some of the UK Eurovision song writing in her past (as well as orchestrating for such folk as Seal and Corinne Bailey-Rae)

  • Who knew Madonna could sing so out of tune? What a daft programme that was......and yet again we realise how badly the average voting person regards this country!

So; today, onward and upward, son and his hubs are coming for lunch (which will be pizza and salad, we don’t have a heavy meal Sunday lunch times) so I’d better get ready!

  • Busy recording the celebration concert/tennis matches at Court One at Wimbledon, daughter is playing in the ‘band’ in between matches. She tried to get me a ticket but they were even harder to get than for the tennis fortnight!

Will watch later.....had a lovely lunch with son who went off then to try to get bedding plants.... good to see them, it seems ages since we did.

  • There was a lovely shot of her, full face, in the first doubles match!

She phoned me while on the way home (hands free of course!) and we had quite a chat about her day. Her godmother managed to get tickets and was seated a few rows behind the orchestra! They managed to get together for a chat.

I had a phone call from my big brother too, from Texas, which was lovely.

    A very special day.....
