It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • Daughter arrived last night, so great to see her, but she’d had a bit of a crash and then been scared by another driver who had driven very near, she said it looked as if they had been racing and both tried to get in fromt of her. She swapped name and address with the driver who had hit her but was so scared that when the road was clear (second, threatening driver moved his car) she drove off, getting to us a bit shaken, but having taken loads of photos.

So we persuaded her to phone the police who were just great! And there’s hardly a scratch on her car but a big dent in the other - an insurance job?! She was actually stationary when it happened too.

Anyway, she’s brought walking boots and as the weather looks promising, I think once we’ve recovered from a very late night and fed our faces, we will get out for some exercise and chats! (No doubt putting cancer in its place too, bless her she has been through so much!)

  • We didn’t get out in the end but she did phone her insurance company and went through it all, her small scrape will probably polish out as she was stationary (heavy traffic) when the other driver tried to force his way round her on a non existent lane of the slip road leading onto another dual carriageway. Turns out his was a hire car. Maybe he was trying to limit his expenses having already had a prang, and trying to put the blame on someone else? So she isn’t claiming but notifying them in case the other driver pulls a fast one! Unfortunately that can happen these days!

and daughter has just gone home.....well fed and happier!

  • What a nasty selfish man , glad it wasn't a more serious bump. Xx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • And daughter got safely home last night, no problems except that the crash-man phoned her; twice, to her answerphone, she was going to phone the insurance company again for their advice ‘that’s what I’m paying them for’ was her decision which I thought was great!

It’s been a quiet day apart from choir, grey, cold and a bit mizzly if you know what that means!

  • I scowled at my hubby when he bought himself a dashcam!! I scowled even more when he bought me one!! For MY birthday I mean really

I shouldn’t have . The number of times I point at it , at reckless drivers. And today ...... a police car pulled out in front of me. I pointed at it again!! He saluted apologetically at me. He wasn’t on blues and twos

She is safe and that’s the point

Dashcam for daughter next birthday moomy??

Life is like a boxing match, defeat is declared not when you fall ..... But when you refuse to stand up again ....... So, I get knocked down but I get up again. x

  • ..that is so funny pointing the dashcam at the Police!love it,and that he saluted you!

..”I will see even if they have to push me there in a Hospital trolley”!!!!!

    Such bravery!!Such dtermination!!

    Love it...

mortality has a special significance once you have had cancer.

my friend promised we would go to France when I had cancer,as I had always been nagging her.

Two years later and STILL NO FRANCE!!

    but nil desperandum...

Before Christmas I gently reminded her...I did say,,”[if I get cancer again]*whisper it*...I might DIE,...”I wasnt being melodramtic...and I wasnt using emotional blackmail...but I put it on the table .....

Oh dear,I dont want to freak anybody out...but there it is.

glad your daughter wasnt hurt ....

  • how terrifying for your daughter, glad she's okay, and good on her for seeking advice from the insurance company

Ha ha . Exactly same thing happened with me. OH got a dash cam without telling me, then got me a surprise one for my   Christmas pressie this year (and I though WT@, but didn't say anything)!. But actually feel much safer with it now.

keep nagging your friend, France is lovely.   In the meantime Rivi@@ Travel do some nice short breaks for solo travellers, Ive been to Bruges with them (no solo, but a still a group one) and it was very easy as train and bus all the way (and Bruges is lovely, and you get to go on a trip to see 1st world war graves and memorials).

All good with me, just the usual aches and pains. Got some new physio led exercise planned, which help

  • Pleased your daughter was ok after that bloke pranged her car ... good to get insurance company up to speed.

Dashcam sounds a good gadget ... more useful than some of the stuff OH picks up at certain stores offer of the week aisles. Joy

... plan a trip to France and tell your friend ... seize the day.

... pleased you are good. Hope the exercise helps.

Im waiting for washing to finish as found I didn’t have one clean pair of knickers available ... I used to have a mountain of them .... must remember to replace them after I throw the old ones out. I have done washing this week but mainly OH’s as he’s on his travels again visiting family. I’m catching up with him next month ... my first long haul for nearly a year and a half. Insurance upgraded with medical facts and no extra to pay. So, just waiting for a clean pair of knickers so I can go out.... good job I didn’t have any appointments as going commando in this weather isn’t advisable. It’s a bit warmer though Smiling imp

  • Hahaha, Flossie!

hope you’re sorted now?! And not Nicholas?!?!?

Yes, daughter is now busy buying a new dash cam! We’ve got front and rear ones, bought them for our kids too but they didn’t get around to using them Rolling eyes

Going off long haul is great if there’s no extra to pay on insurance, been watching BBC’s RIP Off on holidays this last week or two and wondering if some of the folk who come adrift actually bother with holiday insurance? It wouldn’t occur to me not to get it!

However, sometimes you have to shame them publicly on twitter; son needed emergency ear surgery at the end of his honeymoon in Goa, AXA refused to pay up, saying it was elective (Goa is one of the destinations the Brits pick apparently!) but shaming them after son’s partner had battled without result, actually worked and they took notice and settled the bills! So my message? Don’t take it lying down! I’d had experience of AXA myself and appealed through the insurance ombudsman, got a result there too.

    Hugs to you all xxx
