It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • Still so humid but I have managed a bit of cleaning this morning. Stopped now and then to literally wipe my brow!

Steady rain though, not too heavy all at once, just what the garden needs.

  • Anyone near Wisbech today? My niece is getting married .....I think maybe at Downham Market as she goes to church there. I hope it isn't raining although the lower temps must be nicer for a wedding dress.

Unfortunately I'm unable to join them. Too far and too expensive!

  • In Lincoln last 2 days. Hot yesterday and rainy today. Have already popped into M&S food hall too many times !!

  • A cloudy day for a wedding means better photos due to losing deep shadows, if that’s any comfort  ?
I hope all goes well for them, Downham Market is lovely.

  • I’m feeling well enough at last to pop into the museum tomorrow, still coughing but it’s mostly asthma rather than infection now, last antibiotic (a full week) tomorrow, finished the steroid tablets this morning.

Then I guess I will be picking daughter up from the station (she’s been in London, but London Ontario,) for a week doing lots of backstage work for the International Trimbone Festival and is bound to be pretty tired, bless her.

  • I managed to do the much needed cleaning and clearing at the museum, though not able to take part fully in the discussions about the moves forward in the display that may be planned, but the rest of the trustees are of much the same opinion as I am, it seems, so as I needed to shoot off to collect a very tired daughter, I felt able to leave swiftly.

shes been upstairs in her bedroom for a good 2 hours so far, looked incredibly tired when I picked her up from the station. I’d had a bad night so was quietly glad not to have to concentrate too hard this afternoon, anyway.

  • Today I’m taking a plunge into the relatively unknown; a tai chi class being run at my towns ‘day centre’ for the over 55’s. It’s a mile away so I’ll also get in a walk.

I gather it’s good for balance, and hopefully I’ll enjoy it.

  • I took up Tai Chi a year ago and I love it  ! I found a class through U3A, it’s a 10 minute walk away in a parish hall. I definitely recommend it. I think it ticks lots of boxes - certainly balance, flexibility, mindfulness. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do ! Love and hugs, HFxx

  • It was interesting,  , I’d done just a little before, actually while on a cruise, but found this quite challenging and my hips and thighs felt like they’d done a work-out afterwards. (Two miles walk might also have contributed- one each way!)

I gather from class members who’ve been doing this sometime that the teacher is new and they found it interesting too. But they all seemed to know a movement routine which of course I didn’t.

Will continue to see if it’s helpful/useful.

  • Hmmm, can feel my ‘core’ muscles as well as hips and thighs, hope I don’t ache tomorrow!
