But not a very patient one!
I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?
Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that, plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.
By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.
But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

I think my old Bosch might have lasted around that length of time, Flossie25 just not sure. It was actually still going and, if the outlet problem had been sorted it might well have gone on (but really needed a new door seal)
I guess the next to go wrong will be the dishwasher?! That’s getting on for 10 years old now…..!

I think you’re right moomy wounds itch when healing! Can you put some savlon around it to soothe?
here on the border of Suffolk & Norfolk it’s absolutely lovely, sun & blue skies. Although it’s higher temperatures at home and poor plants will wilt again!!
sil has nhl but low grade & from ct they saw cluster in stomach so will have immunotherapy, she’ll see them in 2 weeks.
not sure what immunotherapy is but will look up.
Hope wounds continue to heal

G.Ryan ....I am sorry to read you are suffering so much from after your operation. How long do you need the drains for? Are they being removed soon? Doesn't someone change your dressings? Be sure to tell whoever is going to remove them that they have stuck. I wonder if, with both the pain and the sticking, you have a small infection that isn't healing. Perhaps tomorrow you could ring your nurse and explain all the problems. It's probably nothing but I know from experience infections can occur so I think it would be a good idea to check.
Time does seem to stand still during diagnosis and treatment but it will go. I know it's not always pleasant.....I had a few problems too...but it does pass. It was 2015 when I had my treatment and so far my cancer hasn't returned.
I hope you have a less painful night. I think some people who post here regularly had drains and may offer more helpful advice. I didn't need one for the cancer removal.
Take care. Love Karen
What was your full diagnosis and treatment?
I've got to wait 5 weeks for my results to see if all the cancer is gone then I'm onto chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Ive got to have a mammogram every year and be on medication for the next 10 years.
That waiting game is so tough, G.Ryan , I feel for you. Keep as busy and mind-occupied as you can!
I’ve walked 2.2 miles (temp got to 20° by the time I got home) and kept in the shade as much as I could, now to rest and take in plenty of water and try to keep the house as shady as possible till the sun goes round. The front faces south east so curtains are closed, will swap after lunch. Then try and air and cool the place when the heat begins to ease in the evening.

Too hot already at 7.30 am to walk today, woke with cramp (again!) in my feet.
Getting well fed up with the grot draining from sinuses and coughing up too. It’s a week now, but at least it is draining, not blocked as it was a week ago. According to what I’ve read, it needs to be 10 days before it improves, and if it doesn’t, that's the time to seek professional help.
I’ve woken from a post-breakfast nap too, sleeping and resting so much. However, I have been in the garden watering (from the water butts) fruit and runner beans which look so dry. And picked some fruit too, blackberries aren’t doing too well this year (possibly too dry?) and loganberries are almost at an end. Blueberries are better than usual though. Peas dried out fast as well, I was just not here to water and pick. Ah well…..

Still incredibly tired, napped a total of 3 times today. I guess it’s a combination of post-holiday, heat and this wretched sinus virus. Just felt rough this evening, temp still ok though, as are oxygen sats. Peak flow is a bit down but not surprising, still coughing up crud at times.

I managed my 2 mile walk today (it was cooler) after my morning ‘clear out’ of crud. I wonder if sleeping on an extra pillow has helped? It seems to take a couple of hours of ‘clearing’ in the mornings. Fortunately I think the sinuses are improving, but the cough is annoying, just hope that will clear too. Oddly, it began with a slight sense of balance problems, that was noticeable on my walk. Perhaps it was a ‘farewell’ gesture as well as a beginning?
Just hope I continue to gradually improve.
