It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • I’m back in,    It was only overnight really, but it makes me think I need to sort out a 12v to USB/C feed for charging phone and watch, I guess those gigantic warehouse folk have some product they can sell me!

Hope he and you cope with that prep, it’s a bit rough, glad you’ve got 2 bathrooms! Tell him not to go too far for a while!!!!

  • I had a good walk this morning, exploring the little river that runs through Thirsk, called ‘Cod Beck’ and followed it right out towards the A1, where there’s a tumulus (burial mound) hill called Pudding Pie Hill, apparently three skeletons interred (it was explored in the 1980’s)

a lovely morning but by lunchtime there was a bit of a shower. Back to the van to have lunch today, will eat out tonight (my last night here)

saw sunbathing sheep and lambs, so cute.

  • Just had a lovely meal and back to Goldie-van with no washing up to do, yay!
    5.4 miles walked today….

Move-day tomorrow, a bit of a pity as I’ve fallen in love with Thirsk.

White Horse cafe was lovely with a great view from my table

  • Thank you  , I’m here safely but it was DREADFUL to find, the directions in the book were just plain WRONG! Thankfully I found someone who knew the site, and was a driver himself, his directions, though a bit ‘wordy’, were straightforward and correct!

Fabulous views from the end of the site across the Goyt valley

  • Oh, and the other bit of news, Oxford really are keeping daughter informed, the biopsy results still aren’t ready, but they hope Graham Collins will phone her in the next few days with a plan.

  • Asked the warden about local walks, she had a leaflet (they mostly do!) and I managed 4.4 miles. Some was across fields and skylarks were singing, gorgeous.
back along Crich lane which, sadly, seems a rat run. But it got me back ready to cook dinner and have a glass of wine. Thankfully dinner is a leek-stuffed chicken breast courtesy of Franks butchers in Thirsk, bought yesterday. So that’s busy cooking in my remoska.

Daughter is in London recording for ‘Britains got talent’ and Henry-dog is at a friendly (last minute) doggy sitter that he loves. I might need to collect him tomorrow if I’m back home in good time while the washing machine works its magic!

  • Just got a vehicle battery alert…..well she is 3 years in my ownership, probably a while before that as a vehicle to go to the converters…. Average battery lasts 3-5 years….hope I get started tomorrow! At least I’m homeward bound!

  • Hope everything goes ok this morning   … good to be homeward bound. Although travelling is good there’s no place like home. I found our last trip away very tiring. My energy levels feel quite depleted at times, my mood flat …. think I need to kick in a Letrozole break soon and get some strategies in place to help “lift” me. I might then get round to decorating !!

    Safe journey back home.
