But not a very patient one!
I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?
Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that, plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.
By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.
But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

Beautiful photo moomy . Great that your lovely daughter can take you for the first rads session, hope you can schedule in a treat! And good to have dates to plan around. I think it rarely runs Monday to Friday as they get people started as soon as they have that first slot, rather than wait for a Monday. I had 15 sessions back in January 2019 (that was the norm then). I started on a Wednesday and finished on a Tuesday. Sooner you start, sooner you finish! Good luck with it all. Love and hugs, HFxx
Thanks. HappyFeet1 , son is now feeling concerned he is teaching till almost the last week, he too wanted to save me the angst of waiting around for transport. But it would mean a long trek for him. He wondered whether to book some holiday and would I be ok with them doing so; well of course I would! But he’s going to think about going away after I finish radiotherapy, bless him, but wants to be free to come to the next Onco appointment! I’m so lucky that my kids are so anxious to help.

Been for a walk this afternoon to check out the archaeology ‘digs’ going on in the town, it’s rare to have a Common on the edge of a town these days, so it was fascinating to find that they’ve discovered musket balls (Civil War) a-plenty in some areas, which indicates a practise area for firing, outside the known garrison area. But also some Roman remains too, Samian ware and a Roman coin at least. It’s going to take some rationalising, but they will be having ‘open days’ at the weekend when I’ll definitely go and have another look at the finds.
I did offer to help dig but then found out about the need for surgery so had to pull out. I’d been interested and slightly involved in the ‘Geophys’ which was in 2018. Gosh, does time fly?! it feels like yesterday!
Phone calls today from Breast Unit, I’ve got a prosthetic appointment booked in August now, plus to monitor the swelling in hand and wrist and advise if it doesn’t improve in the next week or two.

Had an awful night! I thought I’d lost my SOS talisman necklace at the hospital, I’d searched all over for it (i thought!) as Ive been taking it off at night since my surgery, have forgotten a couple of times recently and removed it while half asleep. I phoned up just in case it had got handed in and I hadn’t put it back on at the end of the appointment. No lost property found, they said. So I went and searched yet again and it had fallen down in the silliest place possible, I must have removed while half asleep and it had fallen down behind the back of a box.
I wasn’t too bothered as it’s not intrinsically valuable but hubs had bought it for me many years ago after I’d been diagnosed with asthma. And of course it has up to date information on the folded paper slip inside. I duly phoned the hospital again to let them know I’d found it, they were pleased for me.
And I’ve had a lovely post-lunch doze to make up for time lost in the night. It’s odd how strange stuff keeps you awake, isn’t it?

Took Henry-dog to the Common to see the dig ‘finds’ including a lovely bit of Samian ware showing decoration as well as a delicate rim. So the Romans have been here, bits of mediaeval remains including some cattle bones. And of course the Civil War remains. Chatted to one of the archaeologists who said they’d really like to do future digs as the Common is relatively untouched.
So over 2 miles walked. Fortunately today hasn’t been too hot for him.
