It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • Beautiful photo of everybody !

  • Moomy..... that's a lovely photo.

Your daughter is looking well at the moment and I know you said your husband has lost a lot of weight and looks tired a lot, but he is looking better than I expected to see so he obviously enjoyed yesterday too.......

  • He loved being in charge of the fire poker!
yes she is keeping well at present, it was great to be maskless, we are still wearing them indoors with the family even. Daughter is doing her immunoglobulin treatment right now, now that sons have just gone, they have a wedding to go to next weekend and have gone off clothes shopping (Covid has given them both a bit more weight round the middles even though they’ve walked loads!), also it’s meant they haven’t worn much formal clothing for months!

  • Daughter has just finished her second immunoglobulin treatment before dinner, and as I cooked, she has washed up, bless her!
hubs ate surprisingly well, cheese omelette and chips, and some sticky toffee pudding and custard, he’s done well today, some salmon terrine with bread and butter and cooked chicken at lunchtime too! So he didn’t have a build up drink as I think he’s packed in quite a lot of calories without.

  • Hubs has refused to put on a jumper/cardigan as it’s been a lot cooler today so he’s felt chilly to the touch but says I’m fussing! Ha! Men!

  • Hubs kept the home fires burning very well. Fire pits are great for evenings such as this.

  • Thankfully managed to sort out the dates for clinic and treatment at the Churchill, nothing till the 14th now. But hubs does have an ECG for me to get him to the Surgery for, next Monday. Think that’s a preliminary to getting him into anticoagulants.

It’s so chilly and miserable that I’m wearing an autumn top today. And the onesie got used this morning too. Autumn chills are on the way, the blueberry bushes are already showing that lovely deep red colour of leaves.

52 years ago hubs and I were on our way to the Lake District, for a weeks honeymoon in a rented caravan (all we could afford!) having had our first night together in a hotel in Leamington Spa.

  • All the best people had caravans.

We spent the first night of our marriage at the Bedford Arms in Chenies but that was it.....afterwards it was a caravan on Poole Bay. It was March and it snowed!

  • And we camped and caravanned lots later on in our lives together, ! And loved every minute!

Hope that knee (and your back) are improving? When it’s healed, lots of bio oil on the knee to reduce the scarring?
