It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • Happy Boxing Day to all

I had a crafty (front of trashy tv) snooze while family took the dogs on a good 4 mile walk to the hills near here.

feeling very nearly back to normal, phew!

Santa brought lots of Lego and mini Lego-like kits, pic of the mini ones plus a plasticine dog…

  • Still feeling a bit nauseous at night, not yet on normal meds which might not exactly help, as although my fluid intake is better it might not be quite normal yet.

    hiccups too, cuss it…

  • Home and getting sorted….daughter spent some time in the gym spa, I walked Henry and tidied , changed my bedding (didn’t want to sleep in the bedding that I was unwell in!) and washed it. Warming the house up which has taken some time, Henry loves a certain warm spot of course!

feeling great that I managed to walk my mile with Henry, I’m getting better, phew! Partner of a friend has also had a bad attack of gastrointestinal enteritis but has ignored all suggestions and as a result is now on a drip in A&E, so glad I treated myself properly and sensibly. I’m going to gradually get myself back onto all my meds that I stopped as I’m drinking plenty of liquids.

  • Short morning walk done, next load of washing on the go after I’d had a much wanted toast and scrambled egg brekkie.

I was given Lego flowers (we all had some Lego for Christmas; son has the mammoth task of building the brand new star ship Enterprise kit as he’s still a Trekkie!) and have just completed bag number 2. It’s complex enough for an oldie like me and will be good to see some permanent ‘flowers’ even when there aren’t any fresh ones worth having.

daughter has just taken Henry-dog out for a longer walk, after doing some needed trombone practice to keep her lip in.

  • Ah other half was going to buy the Enterprise for me but I would take ages and it's a lot of dosh. Love the little figures! Hope it looks good.

We are en route to kent to visit inlaws for a couple of days. M25 traffic terrible as usual but only about half hour to go. Taken nearly 4 hrs.

  • Travelling this time of year is such a hit and miss situation, isn’t it,   so i hope your journey isn’t too much longer.

Yes, the cost of that kit was pretty high, it was his main present of course! But it’ll keep him quiet for a good week or so Joy
