But not a very patient one!
I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?
Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that, plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.
By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.
But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

Oohmoomy theyve changed the meds for you?
it’s hard knowing that there’s more side effects with the new med….
im sure you will let us know how you are. Am so glad you had a week away and Goldie behaved. Sadly we couldn’t go away to our favourite place as our motorhome engine failed but mended 3 days later with a laptop!!
thinking of you

Yes, Jayhay , the thought was that the last 2 years on Tamoxifen may have been a mistake and I should have stayed on the Letrozole?
this time it will be Abemaciclib, Zometa and Exemestane. Just hope it does the trick.
i still feel achey and ‘tight’ over parts of the chest area following the radiotherapy which finished on 29th July. With the change in the weather (almost constant rain today) it seems ages ago!

Oh boy there is always something isn’t there? Guess that is why it is called practicing medicine! Take care and yes let’s pray for great results. Hugs to you.
Barbara
I’ve now got a nice long list of questions for tomorrow’s appointments…..plus I will ask for my chest to be checked as it’s still tight/sore/lumpy. BCN thinks it’s still radiotherapy effects but happy to ensure I get seen tomorrow anyway.
Daughter will be with me this time, she’s arriving (hopefully, given this awful weather) by train earlier in the day, I will need to collect her from the station.

Hi moomy Good to see you’ve been on your travels. How are you doing following mx? Are you adjusting ok? You must be starting your next treatments soon as I see you have an appointment tomorrow. I do hope all goes well
Weather here is a bit damp and dreary now after a reasonably fair morning x

Hi Flossie25 , yes I’m about to start Zoneta and Abemaciclib, I think I should already have started on Exemestane but GP hasn’t yet been asked to prescribe, not sure why?!
I managed to have 5 amazing nights away but think I overdid it as right sacro-iliac joint has been plaguing me, really painful though it eases off with rest and stretches. I think I’m going to try an ice pack to help too.
How are you doing? It’s really miserable weather here, hope it’s not too bad for you?

Would have thought Gp would prescribe exemastane asap moomy I do hope side effects are minimal for you. How long will your treatment last?
Saco-iliac joint pain is aggravating. Ice pack sounds good.
Doing ok Moomy although can tell I’m back on Letrozole after my break off it. I think I’ll be happy getting to 7.5 years and then stopping. Just nudged the Gp surgery to book my dexa scan for this year. We do have to be on top of things don’t we !!
Not had too much rain here & it’s stopped again. Would love a bit of sunshine.

Yes. GP should indeed prescribe it but hasn’t yet been asked to although my radiotherapy ended in July. I gather from the consultants secretary they generally start AIs after radiotherapy, so they’ve missed all August…..she’s going to chase that! She phoned to change my consultant appointment as they want to see how I’m tolerating the new drugs. So 15th October rather than tomorrow, when they will be supplying them.
Paracetamol extra doses are definitely helping the S-I pain today, plus maybe the big stretches I gave it last night may well also be helping. Sometimes a knowledge of anatomy and physiology helps, thanks, OT training (though that’s a long long time ago)

surprised you haven’t started med from gp yet, is it funding, should t be tho.
ive had problems with s-I joint and found yoga really helped. Like standing and breathing, standing on 1 foot bring knee up , breathing out as bending over bending knees not needing to touch toes, then breathe in as standing up.
there’s other exercises I can send you. I had yoga therapy for back pain and we discovered it was the back joints.
thinking of you for tomorrow.

Thanks Jayhay I suspect the request from GP was an oversight…..the consultant secretary will sort it, she usually queries these things when sorting letter but it may well not have been her doing the letters!
My other worry was that (yes it was a 4am waking) the chest wall is still lumpy and sore as well as feeling ‘tight’ spoke to BCN who assured me that’s incredibly common, and can sometimes take up to 18 months to settle, but will happily look at me tomorrow when I’m there.
oh and the S-I joint is much easier tonight than previous nights. It only got sore when I was bending over Henry-dog to put his coat on to go out to toilet him, he’s such a daft boy who runs off into a dark corner whenever harnesses/coats appear! I suspect my yoga-type stretches have helped, together with icing.
