Well. Welcome to this thread.

You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.

This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.

It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.

The idea is that you can do any of these or none:

  1. Post when you have walked.
  2. Post how many minutes you walked for.
  3. Post how you felt before, during or after. Or not at all.
  4. Post pictures from your walk, but ones that do not point to where you live.
  5. Post inspirational quotes, thoughts or comments.
  6. A simple like of people’s efforts is fine. No need to write an essay unless you feel the need.
  7. On a safety note. Do tell friends, family or the thread when you leave and return safely. Be aware of your personal safety at all times.

Well here goes.

Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.

Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.

PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.

  • I should clarify that some cattle and sheep had water but not others. When I asked one of the owners they seemed unconcerned about a cow panting in the heat and with no water. Think I shall write to the organisers to check none have expired in the heat during the course of the day.

  • Glad you enjoyed it  we would normally have gone but we’ve been stuck at home with poorly car ( in garage now )

Also have my 3rd year mammogram on Tuesday so might get over after that . Hope you spot Tom Cruise while you there apparently they’re back filming near Buttermere

  • Sorry you are stickvat home with car trouble Northerner.

I shall be thinking of you on Tuesday.

Gosh Tom Cruise? What is he filming?

  • Mission Impossible he was there before filming and now film crew appear to be setting up again at Buttermere also over in Kirkbride .
Car now getting repaired but still waiting for final quote with warranty reduction . First quote £1650 down to £1350 then they are going to price match on brake disks / pads and other minor things from Service.
The main problem is Solenoid valve which caused the car to enter limp mode not good on A66 over the Pennines coming home last week . Silver lining now got courtesy car on drive with only 800mile on clock .
Enjoy the rest of your holiday

  • What a lovely son mag123!

  • Fab photos everyone! Such stunning views, here and abroad. Hope you’re on the mend , bet the heat doesn’t help. Well done for raising the issue about water for the animals at the show. It’s stressful enough for them without being left without water in all this heat.
Haven’t walked far these last few days but had a short walk and cafe stop for coffee and cake with friend. One photo near home, think there are geese and swans plus definitely my favourite little egret but not sure if he’s visible from the distance! Love to all, HFxx

  • Great pics, all, no I’m not walking in this heat! Sadly there are still stupid folk walking their dogs in the heat of the day, daughters partner was up almost as dawn broke to get Henry walked and some fell walking in the Lakes, while daughter is still away busy at an international festival in the US. She flies home again today.

  • Hope all ok with your daughter when she gets back .

,I tried ever so hard to find your little egret, but the one spec I thought it was was more likely a sheep!

hoping your mammo goes ok.It’s a hard time isn’t it?

    …thank goodness intervention took place!

Meanwhile my contingency plan for overheating is to go and sit in a tepid bath if I can’t cool down.

we just haven’t seen this weather before have we?

I will find a nice photo for you … I went to a jewellary making class on Fri…all windows open etc etc, given numerous drinks, etc.

As far as going out….well let me find a photo of that too… ermmmmmm……is shopping for summer clothing appropriate for this thread?well it brought me lots of happiness and I did walk……Smirkxx

  • Hi me again. Can I just ask a little question of you intelligent people?

why do we have to close windows in the heat?it’s just that I am planning to be in most of the time and I hade them closed and curtains closed this morning and found it hard to breath and went a little dizzy.(I am a “Little Dizzy”!)

so have opened windows again but kept cutains mostly in place with a little gap.

also…you know how they say “don’t go out unless you can help it,between 11 and 3pm”,well,I have noticed on my “Carrot” ap weather forecaster , forecast ap that the un can be just as hot or hotter at wildly differing times of the day…

Also, does anybody know what the temperature weather is due to be in London next Monday.wondering about cancelling a coach trip.

    Ta everso in advance Vxx

  • Hi  The idea is to trap cool air

you shut the windows and curtains etc to shut warm air out and keep cool air in .So this morning we were at

20 deg with  breeze I opened all windows put fan on in kitchen while oven on . At 10am house felt lovely and cool so shut all windows and blinds etc trapping that coolness in . Fans now on as it 30 could be worse !
Here’s forecast for London from radar app

    Keep cool Sunglasses
