Well. Welcome to this thread.
You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.
This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.
It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.
The idea is that you can do any of these or none:
Well here goes.
Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.
Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.
PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.
Great photos, Northerner! .....And I’ve dusted and vacuumed downstairs too.... time for a stomp to music, methinks!

Love the photos Northerner, sounds like the perfect get together for these times. I’m not even going to look at my step count today as I only went to post my first batch of Christmas cards! Did plenty of housework though so that must count for something. Big walk planned for tomorrow so should have some photos. Also have a zoom Nordic walking exercise class at 9.30 so will be well exercised! Love to all, HFxx. And yes thanks WhatHappened, car passed and clocked up more steps collecting it! Xx
Day 8 - Wednesday 16th Dec. .... where are these days flying to...
So tonight I am looking at all you lovely ladies have achieved. You have all done so well, really well, you should all be very proud - you know you have got on with life and daily chores that need doing and even found time to walk and stomp about. Well Done everyone.... this as lead me to an idea for the New Year - in a way it might depend on how many of us have access to step count devices
the thought behind it goes a little like this... either on this thread or a new thread we could say how many steps we want to achieve for the day or the week - all of this can be tweaked with any ideas you have (more ideas are better than one). Then come on here or new thread and log the steps for the day - just a quick post of how many and then see who does the most in the week and at the end of the week or month - we could have a virtual award for the Show-Off of the month, I mean for the Dedicated Stomper of the month award
hahaha - just a thought, with the new year we might feel more inclined. I know I want to, well I need to give myself a good shake in every direction, it's just an idea at the moment 9and if its anything like my walking.... it won't take off hahaha)
Really well done ladies you have done great today - I will go to bed recharged with a .... right in the morning I'm doing this, that and the other.... then sleep hits and arrrrghhh
Northerner, I think the North East sounds like it would be a nice place to live - it sounds like it still has the 'heart in the village / town' ..... Get you with your 5230!!! steps "Well Done" and the Christmas present exchange, I bet that felt good, so organised. I could see the goat on the table.... they love to climb hahaha
moomy, You're just showing off, cleaning the kitchen floor on your hands and knees was dedication enough, to then go on and go to the chemist and come back and stomp is very good - so much achieved.... Happy belated Birthday Ludwig - I bet he'd of had a laugh and asked what you was doing Stomping to his 'tunes' hahaha
HappyFeet1, don't worry about your steps for today, you probably beat me anyway.... remember though, not only did you post your cards... you have already wrote them, walking to post them completes the task and its all done - what a feeling this must be.... you guessed it, no cards wrote here, no excuse I have christmas cards.... they must be done by the weekend otherwise there's no point... a little like these Chocolate Advent Calenders in case you don't know, I purchased 12 for my Great Nieces and Great Nephews.... I still have 8!!! to give out
I wondered about Nordic Walking before lockdown, I was going to get some 'sticks' .... hahaha or are they called 'poles' - it looks so good - how on earth you will do this class on zoom I can't imagine
Violetsniff, it's not like Violetsniff not to be about, has anyone seen or heard anything - I hope you are safe and well Violetsniff, please drop us a little line so we know all is well, or if you need any support xxx
Today was not a good day for Stomping or Walking for me.... we had the home food shopping delivered, so this meant 'the wiping ritual' arrrrrghhh - it takes us at least an hour. Then took mums grocery up her house. I had ordered a few christmas decorations online for mum, these had come earlier in the week so we took these and put them up.... a row of hanging stars small and large in the front bay window - they look lovely, even if I do say so myself and a light up 'Merry Christmas' sign to hang in the window.... mum.... this isn't going in the window, I'll hang it on a mirror or door so I can see it myself hahaha - got home and watched Corry and then before I knew it is silly o'clock!!! so..... confession.....
Day 8 -
00 minutes Stomping.... or walking ....
I know, I know, its so bad - especially how well you have all done.....
I will make up for this tomorrow, I will !!!
Nighty Night xxxx
WhatHappened everyone entitled to a day off from structured exercise ...just one taken this week Well done !
You need to think about how any steps you did around house with shopping and then going to mums bet you did a few
Today daft as it sounds make going on treadmill a treat to look forward to ...decide how many cards you will write before having a break to stomp then grab that chocolate treat .
If you can bare it put some Christmas music on
Today you need to be single minded .....cards must be done to make you feel better .
Morning all, agree with Northerner that all your steps count WhatHappened, don’t know if you’ve got stairs but they definitely count too! You asked about the zoom Nordic walking WhatHappened, well I’ve just finished a session so will try to explain briefly! We use them mainly in a standing position as we’re indoors. We use them for balance as we rotate ankles, swing legs, do forward and backwards lunges, squats etc. And we do a lot of arm exercises like bicep curls, upward rows, body swivels etc. We also do exercises without the poles like chest presses (against the fireplace for me) and some on a chair. Lots of balance too on each leg. So it feels like a good stretch and also a pulse raiser. What’s great is that it’s with people I know from the walks so it’s sociable too, we always have a wee chat before and after. Love it! It’s about 40-50 minutes exercise in all, including warm up and stretches at the end.
Time to make coffee and picnic for walk with friend soon, hoping we’ll get to our favourite next village and back. I’ll be back later with photos. Love to all, HFxx
Oh and WhatHappened I think your idea of personal goals for daily steps sounds good! All steps count! Xx
Yes, absolutely all steps count! (But I hope scrubbing floors does too? As I’ve just done the bathroom as well! my Apple Watch doesn’t register that though it does get me out of breath! )

moomy scrubbing definitely counts ....is your watch on scrubbing wrist ?? My Christmas treat to myself is a hard floor cleaner ..brilliant can now do floors one handed with ease and it picks up any dust/ crumbs I've missed as it cleans .
Sad isn't it excited bout floor cleaner
Hi Northerner, no, watch is on my weight bearing wrist perhaps I should have swapped hands?!
ah well.....I’ve done my stomping mile too....actually I’m noticing a bit more energy and (perhaps) a bit less tummy to me too.
We are moving into tier 3 as I suspected; not that it will make a lot of difference as I suspect it’s upper schools are spreading it and they will only have 2 weeks when they will be rampaging around the area instead of being in/isolating classes? And there seem to be many selfish folk posting about it on social media, saying they will do what they want anyway and this is ‘just’ flu!?!?!?
