Well. Welcome to this thread.

You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.

This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.

It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.

The idea is that you can do any of these or none:

  1. Post when you have walked.
  2. Post how many minutes you walked for.
  3. Post how you felt before, during or after. Or not at all.
  4. Post pictures from your walk, but ones that do not point to where you live.
  5. Post inspirational quotes, thoughts or comments.
  6. A simple like of people’s efforts is fine. No need to write an essay unless you feel the need.
  7. On a safety note. Do tell friends, family or the thread when you leave and return safely. Be aware of your personal safety at all times.

Well here goes.

Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.

Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.

PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.

  • Oh!!here we are....(PS..It DOES look beautiful later on in summer as I sneaked a David Austin ,Ancient rose smelling, Cabbage rose in a few years ago, even tho it is a shared garden....we are the only ones who KNOW xx)

  • Still not much exercise for me just now - building back up with walking again. Just 10 minutes today on  my way to work. Thought I'd share this with you on the side of a car park. Always makes me smile!

Good Afternoon lovely ladies:  I've been off for a while.  The move has taken a huge toll on me.  Sheesh, I even ran into a tree whilst mowing.  Of course I banged up the affected breast.  Just too much to do and pushing to get it all done.  So far today I've done 6.5 miles and this is part of what I did:https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipM_gykwIyrnDasWJx45G2llSVdPJbjpsXp4H492

It's just not uploading, but if you're interested you can take a peek.  Beautiful white heron beside our pond.  Mowing 1.25 acres is more than enough exercise for me today.  Hugs to you all!  Mira

  • Hey good to see you back. Sounds like you might just be overdoing it a bit!! But hope you're settling in to your new place. The link needs a google id to see, by the way.

    Hugs xx

Thanks Karen:  I don't know what I'm doing wrong in trying to upload this file.  An IT I am not.  Anyhow, it was very pretty and I had some lovely sunsets and dawns as well.  Oh well.  It's either back to the old phone or not sharing.  Sorry.  I have my first mammogram and Ultra sound post surgery and RT later this week, and will be getting a lymphedema pump as well.  Talk about being spoiled!  Love to you all!  Mira

  • Hi  - I've tried to have a nosey at what you've been up to, sadly, the link doesn't work. Sorry to hear you've knocked yourself up so to speak, these lawnmowers can have a mind of there own, I really hope it's nothing to serious.  Will be thinking about with your upcoming mammogram and ultra sound not to forget the radiotherapy treatment.

If you post using the 'old editor' it tells you this on the page where you type your post.... it says

You are using the old editor, this allows image uploads.

if you look above the box where you type you will see....

B then an x and another x, followed by dot and line, number and line, strange line, strange line in grey, a 'back arrow' and a grey forward arrow.  then a grey chain, then a grey 'broken chain' then....... dun, dun, dunnnnnnn what looks like a "TV" with a small circle with a + sign in it...

click that one (the tv looking sign)

this will then open a box saying 'insert/edit media'

look 3 lines done, it says File with a blank space then the word 'browse'

click browse.... this will then look through your photos (hope you're still with me)

when you find your photo - double click the photo.

this will then start to upload - it may take time, you will see a green bar in the blank space that was by the word 'browse' zzzZZzz

this will automatically start to upload the photo and after a while the photo will appear in the box....

then click on 'insert' or you can click 'cancel' and start all over again.

after you have clicked 'insert' - the photo will the appear in your typing box - either below or above you typing -

when you're happy click the green button with the word 'Post

and hey presto - fingers crossed and all that 'it might have worked' - if not, close windows, walk away from the computer, switch kettle on and go and have a cup of tea before screaming into a cushion xxxxxx

I'm hoping this makes sense - only my mind says one thing and my fingers type whatever they like x

Hi What Happened:  I've tried all of that.  It does all that you said, and IF the pictures were actually uploaded to my computer it would work, but my new phone won't upload except to Google and it won't upload FROM Google to here.  Alas, you'll just have to take my word that the heron was lovely.  A beautiful big white one.  Being very lazy today after the terror of driving into Jacksonville for blood work in a horrendous storm at 5:30 in the morning.  When I got home I hit the sack.  I had cataract surgery several years ago and night driving is challenging because of glare.  Add to that torrential downpours and rush hour traffic on a busy freeway and Good Golly Molly!  Will get back on track tomorrow I think.  Hugs to all!  Mira

  • Hi all,

hope youre doing ok today. I've been out for walk this morning with a dog....not mine and a lovely friend. Went round the private grounds of one of John Lewis country establishments....she is a member not me. But always lovely to pop in for a coffee after and continue the matter.

    one of my favourite views.

glad your move went ok  and I pictured your lovely heron.

keep walking all if at all possible it does make you feel better!!

    Hi Everyone

thank you for the mention and concern, big hug to you xx

I'm doing ok feeling a bit bashed up by stinking cold which I caught one last month and thought I was over it in 2 weeks then started walking and normal life stuff then last week caught another stinky cold but because the chemo last year attacked my esophagus and gave me esophagistis really bad its left me with a weakness there and the stinky cold made me sick and bad with acid it's really weird how a cold can affect you and it has triggered the fatigue I suppose its the new normal and I'm not invincible

I had a follow up oncology last week and thought I would find out whether I was Peri. Meno or Post or was it whether I'm spring chicken, old bird or a boiler :) but they only did one blood test for it which points to post meno but not conclusive so in 2 months a blood test for 3 weeks on the trot then they can find out, but what they did tested for which they didn't say was tumour biomarkers and it was negative so I was very chuffed but a bit surprised as I thought it wasn't tested for and it would just be the mammogram, the decision was to stay on Tamoxifen as I'm arthritic its best to leave me alone whilst I'm pain free and not to rock my boat with change of pills

I've done plenty of sitting in armchair and sadly no walking, but I ventured out to take picture of daffodil a little ray of sunshine I do love the spring xxx

  • Awww, daffodils are my happy flower, so brave with all the dreadful weather we've been having!

Really hope those nasty cold symptoms go as fast as they came, or even faster, Happybird! It's rotten when you're feeling rough.

I just managed to toddle to the local shops a couple of times today, but actually think it's helped (have a nasty case of hives) as it just feels like I've fallen into nettles now!

    No doubt stress related!

    Hugs xxx
