Walking back to Happiness

Well. Welcome to this thread.

You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.

This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.

It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.

The idea is that you can do any of these or none:

  1. Post when you have walked.
  2. Post how many minutes you walked for.
  3. Post how you felt before, during or after. Or not at all.
  4. Post pictures from your walk, but ones that do not point to where you live.
  5. Post inspirational quotes, thoughts or comments.
  6. A simple like of people’s efforts is fine. No need to write an essay unless you feel the need.
  7. On a safety note. Do tell friends, family or the thread when you leave and return safely. Be aware of your personal safety at all times.

Well here goes.

Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.

Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.

PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.

  • Still struggling with EC number 4 so not done much this week. Going to walk and pick daughter up in a minute but thought I'd share this picture of Puppy at doggy day care.  Cheered me up massively Heart eyesFeet

  • 2.3 miles on the muddy (bridleway) track, wore my walking boots as I knew it would be muddy (it was!) but very enjoyable.

took wild clematis seed head photo

needless to say it’s on its side!

Before I spend some time catching up since I last was here, I will just mention that I have been reading about Janet Rowley, a Nobel Prize winner for her work on discovering many facts about leukemia genes, and associated virus. A most interesting woman. The book is called 'The Serengeti Rules' by Sean Carroll. It is a bit too complicated with facts and figures, but I have skimmed over those! Learning about the people during the last century who discovered so much about how cells work has been so interesting.

I don't know how to edit to add to previous post! So interesting to read all the posts and see how you cope with chemo. I was lucky not to have to go through that.

My greatgrandson was born on 28th January and is doing well. My son came to show me some pictures and video on his tablet thing and I was able to get an idea of his face. I hope to see him In March when they visit my son and d-in-law. Nowadays of course it is not at all unusual to be a greatgrandparent!!

  • For editing, click on ‘more’ at the bottom of the post and it gives you options including edit, click on that and it will be coming up with previous post plus yours which you want to edit; you change what you wish, then click post again.....job done!

  • Managed 2.11 miles today , beautiful day before the storms come back tomorrow.  Side effects from number 4 slowly easing off touch wood.

  • Lovely photos ladies, and your brolly story is a hoot , sounds like you narrowly missed taking off over the chimney pots like an out of control Mary Poppins!! Well done for wrapping yourself round the lamppost! And the puppy at daycare photo is hilarious, so cute. Managed a heath walk with friend today after quick cafe lunch, no rain but pretty soggy underfoot. Thought you might like to peep through this tunnel ....

Think it’s posted but not appearing, seems often to happen when I’m on my phone... It’s really just a railway bridge and leads to the marshes...Happy weekend to all, I’m off to Scotland tomorrow if Dennis doesn’t totally wreck our travel, fingers crossed! HFxx
