Well. Welcome to this thread.

You may be surprised why it is here or happy it is here. Then again: ‘You have got to be joking! Do you know what is wrong with me?’ may be your response.

This all began on the Extreme Fatigue thread. On there several people wanted and needed inspiration/incentive to get out and walk. Many people see the benefits of it in their life and to help on this; mad journey, train ride, rollercoaster ride and other positively rude words journey called Breast Cancer.

It is not a thread created to make anyone feel less than they do at present. It is not a thread that will set people against one another. Being competitive with yourself or a simple challenge to yourself is the point, but not a race against others is a key premis.

The idea is that you can do any of these or none:

  1. Post when you have walked.
  2. Post how many minutes you walked for.
  3. Post how you felt before, during or after. Or not at all.
  4. Post pictures from your walk, but ones that do not point to where you live.
  5. Post inspirational quotes, thoughts or comments.
  6. A simple like of people’s efforts is fine. No need to write an essay unless you feel the need.
  7. On a safety note. Do tell friends, family or the thread when you leave and return safely. Be aware of your personal safety at all times.

Well here goes.

Either it will grow and blossom, with lots of lovely people benefiting. Or I will have egg all over my face – not for the first time in my chequered life and career.

Leolady – may be adding in the odd gallop to my walks.

PS if you don't like us don't be cruel.

It would seem we are all finding a sense  of happiness  in amongst the poop

My happiness is mixed as we all know it can be

Loss of a dear friend’s son. Pericarditis again

but .... I am enjoying my sunshine holiday and walking as much as I can

If all goes well you will see pictures of Besalu

    So I’m allowed one

  • Fab photos , love the specs arm down the cleavage!  And what a marathon of a day, just as well you had your guardian angel beside you. Beautiful photo , sorry you are having a bittersweet time, hopefully the sweet is generally winning, you certainly seem to be visiting beautiful places.

Had 2 walks today, dog walk with hubby through a grass field which was up to my neck in bits, then a walk to lovely stately home type place with a friend, managed to fit in a pot of tea in the posh cafe. Love the gardens there, very pretty but not too fussy. Water lilies were the 'stars' for me today:

Wishing everyone good walking/ pottering/ cafeing/ sitting in a garden....while the weather lasts... HFxx

Walked 5K for Cancer Research yesterday. Lovely granddaughters came along in case I needed first aid!!

  • Go !!! That must have been hot!

Went for last minute walk with friend this afternoon, change of route, went to lovely local country park/ nature reserve, hadn't been there since winter. Very green and lush, lots of quirky trees, here's a 500 year old oak for you, , I know you love your trees!

.... good news about yourself and BiL.

... hope your shingles has abated and you’re having lots of swims in Cornwall

    .... well done

..... sad news to deal with. Have I read it right and you have pericarditis again ?

Back from hols last week after walking 10 miles on most of the days away.....not doing that much here but over jet lag and could do better ... but the weather is rubbish. Going to get out and weed as the drive is beginning to look as though it’s blending with the grass either side of it !!!!

    take care all

  • Hello all,

(good to see you Flossie, 10 miles per day sounds a lot, but it sounds as if you explored your holiday surroundings fully!)

does doing the cleaning count as exercise? As that’s what I’ve done so far today......! And I’m now very warm, what with humidity and hot flushes.....

Got a bit concerned as daughter (who loves walking but is tired after several 18 hour days on the trot - she’s the one who had lots of years of treatment for a blood cancer) said her next venue is half an hour’s walk away - in St Petersburg! Asked her if she’d be taxi-d to and fro as it might be dodgy, especially late at night. Yes, she’s being ferried to and fro by a proper chauffeur, as befits a tv presenter!

    Hugs xxx

  • Good to see you back , as says, 10 miles is a lot!!

, glad your daughter is being looked after. It must be sooo lovely seeing her on TV. What is she doing about RNCM?

We are sort of ready to go to Cornwall tomorrow, and for the builders to start also tomorrow. Hope to be swimming in the sea soon. The post shingles pain is beginning to ease now thank goodness.

Will try to post a pic of our now empty garage. It was absolutely full of clutter, and DH has done most of it. Hope to post a pic showing him just leaving looking a bit shifty. Xxx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!
